Just FYI, straight pipes are illegal on the streets in Oregon, except for certain exempted vehicles.

You have to attenuate the exhaust noise level to 91dBA or less (stationary test, 25 feet from vehicle) (ORS 815.250).

And before you groan, that's a lot more leeway than the 84dBA (moving, 50 feet from centerline of roadway) TOTAL vehicle noise limit here in Nevada!

BTW, that's vehicle specific, not state-of-registration specific, to you don't get the extra decibels here just because you're registered there.

Without the muffler, you're going to be over the noise limit.

FYI, He didnt ask for legal advise on is he should or not, He wanted peoples thoughts on how his car now sounded. Most of the modded v6 on here are now illegal for street use per some statute.

I know 3 of my 4 are, but I still drive them.

I figured it would be kinder to tell him about the law than to say the straight pipes sound silly.
