My first question is what are strait pipes? and my secound question it how many cat's does a 99 v6 stang have?

Straight pipes are just that. They go from the cats to the mufflers with no crossover pipe. And you should have 4 cats.

It's cheaper than adding a X-pipe or H-pipe. Altho an X or H pipe will sound better.

Straight pipes are pipes that come off of the headers, no mufflers, no cats, no nothing. That's why they're called straight pipes. They were popular in the 50's before inspections and legislation took hold.
