brake problem
I have a problem with my brakes. when I push the pedal down, it feels like the 1st half of the travel has only a little feel, then it firms up if I push harder. as I understand the system, pressure goes to the rear brakes first, then as the pressure rises it goes to the front brakes. there are no warning lights on the dash.
thanks.
thanks.
pads are all good and I bled all corners, it doesn't feel spongy like air in the lines, more like too much pedal free travel. I just replaced the driver side caliper, it was rusted solid so hasn't been working for some time.
ok today I pulled the wheel off again and had my wife pump the pedal. it was the piston retracting after the pedal was released, so just too much travel on the piston. I pulled the caliper off and wound it out 1/2 a turn and now it's all good, almost put me through the windshield..
I never had the piston do that before, they always stay out, just off the disc, this one looked like there was a spring pulling it back in. beats me....

checked my repair manual today, and it says that the back brakes come on first, I could feel it when I was bleeding the brakes, with the bleeder backed off the pedal was easy until it reached where the front brakes were in the pedal travel, then it got hard again because the front bleeder is closed.
You manual is wrong. If the rears brake first then you wouldnt be able to do a burnout while using the brakes to hold the front wheels from turning.
Im not sure what is up with your rear calipers though as the pistons shouldnt screw out.
