Default Headers

So after A LOT of looking I finally found a crack in my headers (lifter tick was too irritating). I've been told options would be welding it back together or I could replace the headers. I've been looking and I can't decide. I've got a $1000 spending limit if I go with new headers/exhaust. What's the benefit to shorty or long tube headers? Or should I just get the direct factory replacement? Does anyone prefer one over the other? Any suggestions on what I should get if I go with shorty or long tube?

Also if I replace the headers should I redo the whole exhaust?

Any input would be great! Thanks guys!

I hate that tick. But its worth a try since I already tightened down my rockers replaced the lifters and have ran seafoam through to clean the engine. I was looking at going to duals anyway may as well go with headers too so I was looking at them. Is there a benefit to long tubes?

Deeper sound really. Unless you're doing a full system no point. They come from the factory with whats basically shorties..just heavy as hell ones.

Mine only ticks from about 2500 rpm to 3500 rpm. Before and after that no tick.

Mine ticks while idling after the engine as been revved up once warm and it ticks between 2000-2500 when I'm going over 65.

I've saw that you need a custom set up with long tube. Any suggestions or pointers there?

Alright so after doing some looking I think I'm gonna go with the MAC long tubes and the Shorty Mid Pipe. Now is the Exhaust gonna fit under the bumper like I see most of the catbacks for V6 or am I gonna need a GT bumper?

Long tubes and shorties are both types of headers. I think what you mean is long tube headers and a H or Y mid pipe. And I dont know on the bumper. Ive seen them fit but I have the cutout style. I also run CATless so cant help with those either :P

H-pipe that comes with the long tube headers is a shorty mid pipe. As for the bumper I have saw a lot of the V6 conversion fits under but everyone I talk to about a dual catback says I'm gonna need a GT bumper. I just don't want to spend $1000 on this setup then it not fit under the bumper like I have saw with most dual exhaust on the 6

They fit under the bumper fine, some people just like swapping bumpers for the look, if your going to go through with headers do long tubes,
