Question Help with P1406

Hello all, I have not seen this problem on the forums, but if there already is a post please direct me to them. I am having trouble with one of the EGR/DPFE hoses repeatedly popping off. It is the hose that goes from the right side valve cover to the metal EGR line. I have tried hose clamping it down but it just burnt through, the other two hoses attached to the actual EGR valve are alright, just this third one closer to the rear of the engine. It is not the PCV valve hose, but it is on the other side of the engine from that. Should I just get a new high temp rubber hose and attach it with hose clamps? The hose is older and sat for a few years, so it is cracking a little but I am not sure if that will solve my problem. The car is lugging a little and I can feel it pop off after reattaching. Any help is appreciated, or if you have experienced the same problem. Thank you!
