Default speakers

reguardless of what music I listen to, im looking for some new speakers to give me better sound. For those that have aftermarketed their sound sytem, what sounds best in a 2000 mustang convertible, since it takes 4 6x8's. Circuit city told me Infinity speakers are good for my car, but this is what im generally looking for.....

- A nice acoustic sound, not to blary or over bass'd
- Speakers that will immerse sound into the car even when the top is down (since I have a convertible)

... also do I need a new head unit? its the stock 1...

I need your help guys

I have boston acoustic speakers and they're awesome. Polk Audio, high end Bose, and Alpine also make great speakers. You may also want to add in a base system, because speakers alone will not give you the best sound quality, in that case I reccommend Audiobans, or Polk Audio, 250W speakers are perfect unless you plan on competing in base competitions.

hey i know you guys may not believe me but i got 4 pioneer 6x8,s at wal-mart for about $108 with the 2-way tweeters and they are amazing! some of the best speakers i have ever bought! i also have 2 12" limited edition sony xplode subs on a 1000 watt pheonix digital amp. its the best mix of highs and lows ive heard! i have to admit though boston acoustic and infinity do sound amazing as well you just need to go to ur local electronics store and listen to what YOU want! dont let someone else tell you what to get! some people told me to get the rockfard fosgate 6x8's and now im glad i got the pioneers instead its all in personal opinion because everyone likes different sounds!

Pioneer are nice, but I think Infiniti are amazing. My friend has some 6x9's in his envoy, tweeters (which he has blow twice *shrug*), with a 15" JL W3, best sounding system around. Highs, Lows, and mids are covered nicely.

cool thanks for the feedback. Im looking for that nice clarity, not OVER BASS'D if you know what I mean. Im just gunna bring some santana or some other acoustic crap and just play it on all of there speakers till i find the right one im looking for. Im also low on cash, so I might have to go with the wal-mart option. The thing is some black guy was on the floor telling me about the speakers and he was blasting 50-cent lmao. No matter what store I go to the audio section is always filled with rap music. Damn dont people know what music is. I would listen to garth brooks over 50-cent any day. lol One day im gunna work at best buy and just wait till every black person in the store leaves and blast some metallica till the windows shatter. haha yes best buy is awesome i love that place im actually thinking of applying there myself but back to the speakers just because u get somthing from wal-mart or k-mart doesnt mean its crap i blast my pioneers all the way up ALL THE TIME and still havnt blew them, they have been great speakers. but u might want to get u like 2 tweeters too for those really high notes of santana trust me u will be able to tell a difference. if there is one thing i know more about cars its the electronics part of it haha the other parts im askin around still tryin to learn myself!

a new head unit will help cuz in the factory head unit ur probably pushing at most about 20-30 watts power to each speaker! now i know blauplunket (german) has a head unit u can get that is a 65x4 headunit thats 65 watts to each speaker without even having an amp on it! the best nag though is the sony units they are 52x4 wattage and they are cheap and reliable u can keep the stock and have a really good, loud sound in your car, but if you want it to have a little bit of edge and a little bit louder sound to it then go ahead and get you a new head unit just depends on what kind of money ur wanting to spend!
