OF COURSE...it is what OPENS to allow the coolant into the engine..w/o that working your car will massively overheat and cause major damage. It is located after the top radiator hose where it connects to the engine usually.

It has not affiliation so to speak as its a mechanical thermo...and we have electric fans

Yeah i know that thats the thermo stat.........I heard that theres a sensor that cuts your fan on when your car starts to get a little hot...........Heres my story....i was driving back from my grandparents house and i was on a highway so i was going pretty fast about 75mph then i heard a clicking noise, then i pulled over to check it out then my car started to overheat a little bet.......so far i replaced the radiator, both hoses, t-stat, serpintine belt.......my water pump isnt leaking through the **** hole so it seems fine???I just did a oil change about 4 days ago.. Me thinking that the car is fixed i take it for a test drive and after a little bet the temp gauge shoots way up to about the L??????????I don't know whta more to do i need some help???????????????????????????

Any good local parts store should have it. And I think it's a real good possibility the Fan Stitch is bad. Either that or your coolant has a nice sized air pocket where the switch is. That will make the fan kick on way too late.
