Default What maintenance?

I'm kinda lazy so I'm not too good with maintenance, besides changing the oil. I have like 17,000 miles and have only done oil changes so far...what other maintenance do I need to do so far?

Normally a tire rotyation is the other thing. But if you got bigger tires in the rear, nothing else.

well, I don't have bigger ones in the rear, but I just got new ones with my rims.

you still want to rotate them every 5k, go to fordvehicles.com and set up an owners page, it will tell you everything you need to know, takes about 5 min.

nice new sig by the way

Changing your oil and filters (including air and gas) are the most important things you can do. It won't matter if you have nice tires and wheels if your motor isn't working.

meh.. if he's got an aftermarket intake, his air filter is good for like 50k miles.

yeah though, the fuel filter needs to be taken care off too. also, might want to get your fuel injectors cleaned (not with the injector cleaner you buy at the store. that stuff doesn't work) and it'd be a good idea to change your spark plugs every so often too. i change my plugs once a year.

Between 25k and 30k miles I drain all the fluid from the tranny and refill (if you have an automajic). A cooler on the tranny is also a nice addition as well. Most people overlook this and never change the fluid until the car is approaching or well over 100k.
Burnt nasty fluid is not doing your tranny any justice after that kind of abuse. I see tons of mod questions for power, but for prolonged high speed running a $60 item, and regular fluid changes can save you a lot of grief.

Check your plugs. Most of them come with platinum tips and all kinds of other tips that are supposed to be good for 100k. At 17k you should be fine. I prefer regular copper plugs, but they require more frequent changes.

Fuel and air filters as others have mentioned.

Inspect your motor for stuff like cracked vacuum lines, frayed wires, wiper blades, blown bulbs, just a good visual inspection.

Your car is pretty new so unless you've trashed it it should be ok with that mileage.

GUYS! He only has 17,000 miles on it. At the most, some fuel injection cleaner, and a tire rotation on top of the oil changes. SHEESH!

He said he's LAZY! We're just trying to get him into some good habits.
As far as injection cleaners try Sea Foam. I use 1/2 oz per gallon of gas once every six months or before a long trip. It is great stuff.
