ok i already asked this in the 5.0 section but they didnt even help me so i dont really care...but how much money would it take to put a 5.0 in my 99 mustang??....what else would i have to get to make it fit and ecu upgrades and all that jazz???

 

You could probably pick up a good 5.0 Stang for just as much. There's the engine, tranny, driveshaft, rear end, computer, wiring harness, and a WHOLE S**TLOAD of work! Not to mention all the engine periferals.

I dont think its worth puttin in a 5.0 in a 99-04 mustang, yeah its a bigger motor but its hard to find one with good mileage plus I would want to put something with more power in it unless your plannin on throwin some serious $$$ into it. didnt 5.0's have like max 235hp stock>?? A friend of mine swapped, his 99 v6 auto, with a 01' cobra 5 speed in it, cost him about 7 grand with the install which is pretty good for a new engine and all the parts he needed for the swap.... you can find a good used 99-04gt or cobra motor for a good price, i think thats a better idea than putting a 86-95 5.0 motor in..... just my opinion tho...

 

yea i seen that focus, didnt it only run like 2/10s faster than the 4 cyl engine? all that weight made it go bad, so it ran the same as a mustang

 

I think it's time we get a sticky on this topic, dude, sell your car and get a GT, it will be way cheaper and you don't have to worry about anything being screwed up because of a bad install, and outside of all of the stuff outside of the engine, you'll run the risk of activating the anti theft device when you rip out your old engine and the new one will wind up not working, a couple of more people can tell you more on this, but that's the basic idea.

For the money you're gonna spend, why not just put a Procharger or Vortex charger in it????????

 

call www.stangparts.com , they will hook you up on everything you will need. BTw a 5.0 would be a downgrade for your car , get a 4.6L

 

you could probably also put TTs on it to for that price, id say keep it and use the money for that to mod the hell out of the car and turn it into a GT killer, if you really want a 5.0 engine get one from 1987-92 because in 93 they stoped putting in forged internals
