Default Rear Differential

I was thinking about putting on a 7.5" rear differential. I have an 01 V6 stang. I was wondering if anyone has put one on an or if it is worth the money to invest in one??

do you mean 8.8? if you do not worth it right now unless you plan on getting alot of HP, i would however recomend 4.10 gears and a t-lok (limited slip)

its only worth it if you go with more then just basic bolt-ons. especially autos a t-lok will work just fine.

are you making alot of power or do you want to change just because the stocker will keep you going and you could put the money into something worth while for a real power increase, or a ride helper, springs shock struts, something like that

Summit carries them but you have to call them or type in the part# on their web search

summits part# is DTL-912A316 for $435

this place is chaeper at $412. they used to be $354 then $385 only about 6 months ago

http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...duct-5407.html

the Detroit is the strongest differential made for the 7.5 except for the Detroit locker but the locker is not the best for street use

you will need a righmond gear install kit also summit's part# RMG-8310451

i would add gears at the same time as you do the differential but if you want the stock gears that's your choice. if you plan on adding gears in the future then just add them now. there is no sense tearing the rear apart twice

3.73's would be a great choice as would 4.10's

skip the ford T-lok. their clutches don't last very long (i went through 2 sets) and they are not very strong and have been known to break with stock power and sticky tires on 5spds
