Default Need some advice.......

I need some advice before I start to think about doing major mods to my car. My stang is a daily driver and my only transportation until I get my truck back on the road. I plan on getting a CAI, exhuast and rims. Now how will mods like a tuner, gears (t-lok included), and others effect my cars reliability and fuel milage? Should I consider mods other than a cai and exhaust?

Everything affects fuel mileage. CAI makes it better, while gears and a T-Lok make it worse. It doesnt really affect the reliabilty unless you dont know what you're doing when you're installing it.

It's not that worse.. Maybe 1-2mpg if you get 4.10's. It's only bad at first because people are always running through the gears when they first get it back.

cai make it better and the gears and t-lok will cancel that out, especially if its a highway DD.....id stick with the cai, exhaust and tuner for performance mods, and then rims and maybe lowering it with new springs, shocks, struts for appearance

and yes i know the springs, shocks, struts is performance as well

Yea a cai, pulleys and exhaust will net you about 2mpg, while gears will take between 1-2 mpg, more if you really like to hit the gas. But a cai will cost you about $150+ for a name brand, and as low as $30 for a cheapo, I reccommend the one of ebay that sells for $40 and is the only one that comes with a K&N filter, that's the one I have and it's great for the price. Just to let you know, it's a clearence item from a shop in Cali, so it may or may not still be for sale. Exhaust is iffy, a V6 x pipe (all I reccommend for a six) will run you about $175 for o/r, the MIL eliminators will cost you $60 because you won't have cats, and cated systems will cost close to $300 or more. A GT cat back system will cost anywhere from $150 for cheapies like Flowmasters and Pypes, to well over $400 for the best like Magnaflow and Borla. Pulleys are cheap, $60-80 for 94-98s, about $100 for 99+. A tuner will cost between $300-400 new, but you can always get a deal off of ebay. PM autobadges.com (Erick) for a quote on a crank pulley, or just go to their websit, I highly reccommend their service, and if you don't want an ebay cai, then go there. But you will have to get your exhaust elsewhere.
