Default Porting and polishing

I was wondering if any of you have done any of your own porting and polishing? i was thinking of polishing the ports in the head..., Has any one out ther opened up ther stock exhaust manifolts? Did you mess up or did you gain HP? what tools would you youse? I was thinking of yousing a dremil with long extenchions.... it was just a idea... If i get the engine, 3.8L carb i might want to oped the exhaust... If i do it how would i clean the inside of the heads when i am done?

Thanks

03yellowpony did his upper intake, but unless you truely know what you are doing, A.) take it to a shop and let them do it, B.) buy a ported, polished intake, heads with a cam from either supersixmotorsports.com or rpm-mustangs.com. There are just too many things you could screw up one while doing this. Also, porting and polishing won't do squat on a stock eninge, you'll have to have at least a cai, true dual exhaust set up, and an inlarged throttle body to really see any gains. And the key to the whole damn thing isn't the porting and the polishing, because this may, at best, add 15 rwhp, but you'll probably get around 10 with a TB, the key is the cam swap, that's the hp maker, you'll also have to consider changing out your fuel injectors for the newly added air, because your stock injectors can only take so much, and it isn't a lot.

Wait for Harvey (03yellowpony), he'll be able to tell you much more about carb engines than I can, he has over 30 years of mechanical experiance.

port it yourself, i'm working on a head, 2 sets of intakes, and i just finished up a throttle body. if you have the right bits and abrasives, you can knock it out pretty easy. and you can use a turbo on a carb engine, but i couldn't offer any specific other advice, i just know it can be done.

Hey man, I'd suggest that you DIY it!

I made an easy 4 barrel conversion for a carbed intake and saved the
template. It takes a 1/4" piece of sheet aluminum and flathead 1/4 and 5/16
screws, and carb studs. Gaskets too, but those can be bought. I'd also
suggest you do your own head porting and I can help you with that, I
trained rpm-mustangs (Mik) initially and he's pretty good now. These
heads are pretty easy and I'd also suggest using a roller cam block
so you can get good regrind rollers, they are same price (or less!)
than a flat tappet grind.

You cannot buy a proper 4bbl adapter, I've looked around alot and
decided to make my own. You have to port the intake plenum alot
but a small holley fits perfectly after you do the requisite mods.
Up to a 600 CFM but that is probably too big for anything but a
full race V6. I can also help you upgrade your springs to the
high tech Beehive style the 96 and up heads use, and you can get
up to and over .600" valve lift with the right springs and stock valves!
Also you can upgrade to cheap big valves with the older 11/32"
valve stem heads. Ya just gotta know what to use!

you would benefit from robert greene's porting and cams. don't forget that the 3.8 will not bolt up to your C3 tranny in your mustang II you will need a 302 bellhoused C4 to make it work

RGR can make that car fly with a 3.8 in it
