Default Where is the power?

One thing I never understood is why Ford throws crappy engines in the mustangs. 3.8L only producing 190hp.. that's pretty bad. Why didn't they throw in the 3.0L vulcan 24valve that they use in the taurus? That gets 200HP. Chevy's 3.8L gets 200hp and it's older than the stang. In the 05s, they used the Explorer engine, 4.0L and only 210hp? Wtf?

because if the v6 was faster than the v8 they wouldn't sell many v8s and v8 is considered american muscle not v6's..

You want more power out of the box, buy a GT, else mod like hell to get the power you want.

Mustangs have come from Ford with as little as 84 hp. High hp V8 Mustangs don't make Ford money.... selling cars people actually drive does. Long live the V6!

My 85 only had 88 HP and thats because of gas mileage. I was getting 30 miles to the gallon most of the time. LilRouch is right, Ford only makes money buy selling cars, they arent going to sell very many cars that only get 15 miles to the gallon.

did you ever think that ford wants people to mod for the they want and restricted the mustang stock you can do little things here and there that will make you a little faster and look at the price difference for the 3.8 camero

its price and matching it to the car. The engines really are pretty damn good for the price you are paying for the car...the 4.0 makes 210hp and 240 ft lbs and the car starts under 20k...the new v6 is the fastest/most powerful car under 20,000 bucks, and both the 3.8's and 4.0's have massive potential for modding. the 3.8 was also powerful for how cheap it was when it was new...

the new V6's arnt the fastest... i raced like 3 when my car was still bone stock, and took them all by over a cars length, 2 were stick and one was an auto, now that i have intake and exhaust, its over 2 cars from like 0-80... im not sure where you are getting your figures from, but the new V6's are not anything to get excited over. ill agree that both have decent potential for modding, but with the new ones i just dont see the power

The 4.0 should be putting around 180 to the wheels. The new edge v6 is around 165 to the wheels. Also the newer one is a lil heavier too, but still should be faster than a stock 3.8 splitport

my wife has an '07 v6 auto..it runs 9.80 in the 1/8th mile. Not too shabby for a six. If the high hp stick guys slip up I get em every time. I recently ran a gto and he beat me by 2 10ths. needless to say he wasn'y very happy.
