3.8 Question
I'm looking at a 2001 Mustang with the V6 3.8L engine, and I was wondering if anyone on here had any concerns that I should know about. Its got 51,000 miles on it and I've heard that once it gets in the 90-100,000 range, things get a little shaky. I could be wrong, but I'm just looking for some people who can form an opinion out of experience.
3.5 L???
I know there are a lot of guys on here with well over 100000 on their v6's, and I have heard of one or two approaching 200000. It all depends on if you take care of your car and do all the regular maintance on it.

i have 85k with very few minor problems. ask v6stang07 he has almost 150k on his car, and lilroush is in the 100's.
the 3.8l is a good motor and the mustang is a reliable car as long as it is maintained.

Like he said it will last as long as its maintained. It not going to automatically blow up when it reaches 100K. If you buy the car regular maintence is key as long life, example my parents have a 95 Aerostar van 4.0 with 248K on it and it does not even burn oil. A 94 Taurus with 152K and a 96 Buick LeSabre with 198K. All fine, it great shape inside, outside, and mechanically. My 94 GT has 135K and does not burn oil as well. At 51KI would change all fluids/oils, check the spark plugs, flush the cooant and change the fuel filter, keepthe car in good shape, and it will be a solid car for many more miles. And please do not rag it out.

all the maintenance tips the above poster suggests are a great idea to do as soon as you get the car home.
