Default Shifter

I'm lloking into getting a short throw. I'm looking into the steeda Tri-Ax or one from Pro 5.0. Which would y'all suggest? Pros and cons?

I've changed shifters, and just changed the shift handle, and done both ... not much difference.

Pros: shorter throws & more 'positive feel' to the shift (getting rid of the ford shifter's rubber isolator)
Cons: any change to shifter or handle will bring more transmission (gear) noise/vibration into the vehicle (unless you insolate/isolate the shifter handle)

I usually look at cost first (since most short-shifters are essentially the same). If you know anybody that has one, taking a seat in their car & feeling the shift/difference is the best gauge of all. Looking at measurements/stats doesn't really help.

My last Mustang all I changed was the shift handle, and that was enough. My current car, I changed the whole shifter out. Essentailly, I have the same throw/length in both cars, and spent a lot more time/money changing the shifter than changing just the shift handle.

I put a TriAx in my car a few months ago. The feel of the shift takes a little getting used to at first, but I like the way it moves. Whatever you decide to get, make sure you insulate against the road/tranny noise. The rubber boot only costs a few bucks and is definitely worth it. I've been in a couple of stangs without one and they're loud as hell. My only con is the shifter ****...I replaced it way before I got the shifter, and the screws loosen every few months and rattle pretty d@mn loud until I tighten them, but that's about it--don't know if you'd have the same issue with the stock ****, though.

Tri-ax is the way to go. You will never know how sloppy the stock shifter is until you get a tri-ax.

I've run B&M, Hurst, Tri-Ax and Roush.... I like the Tri-Ax the best by far.

I got a Tri-Axe and love it. Ive never tried anything else but dont think that I would ever use anythign else. The movement in it is great, it was easy to install. The only con that I found was that 5th is alittle difficult to get into but after a while you get use to it.Hope this helps.
