Default Cold Air Intake

So, I'm getting paid for a gig I played last week and was thinking about spending the money on a Cold Air Intake, I've got $250 from the gig. Is there something else I should be getting first? the only thing I've done was a little painting and a HID kit, I'm looking into performance stuff now so what's the best I can do with $250? Also, any recommended brands for the Intake?

Thanks.

just get a K&N air filter and call it a day. you'll get the same performance and spend a lot less.

Read my post under the Headers/CAI 4.0L topic. These ( R2C Performance )are the best systems. Do not buy a oiled gauzeanything. This is merely hyped up marketing. Oiled cotton gauze is absolutely no good as a filter and the system itself has many drawbacks. I learned the hard way. Call Jegs, Summit or Mustangs Unlimited, etc.and be done with it.

I had the K&N filter with the silencer removed then switched to BBK CAI and I improved on hp probably by 5hp so I personally don't think you get the same gains

Hey Zach333

You broke up my fixation on the cub game. The key here is the tube shape and the filter construction. The pages with the test results the guys provided us are telling. The R2C guys discovered issues in terms of flow with the universal round tube and changed it. The BBK is decent but it's fundamentally the same. They had one at the track. The biggest problem is the oiled gauze filter on the BBK. Back to trying to sell cars!

if you go to american muscle.com you can find an cai for like $70 (with free shipping)
or you can try the STEEDA CAI (although that one is located only in your engine bay not a cai)

On my V6, I bought a cheap-o one off ebay for the chrome look and got a K&N filter...with intakes a tube is a tube, really the performance/flow lies in the filter.
