Default Help with Mods

So, I finally got my hands on some cash recently and decided to mod my car. It was in need of some work anyway, and I wanted to go as far as I could.

At one point, a kid keyed my hood down to the fiberglass, and since the car is black, it really shows. I am wanting a Cobra 2000R style hood and have found many online, but the price has pushed me away for some time. However, I just found a company that has one for $270, unpainted. I don't know how good the quality is, and I wondered if someone could comment on this. The hood I'm looking at is the 99-04 2000K Cobra Style with Louvers at this site: http://championhoodsandproducts.com/mustang3.html.

On another note, today I took my car to a friend to get straight pipes. I ended up with 2" tubes running straight out of the cats. As most of you know, it sounds like I pissed off a hive of bumblebees. I'm happy with the sound, but wish I could get the high pitched popping out of the system. I know that the best option would be an H-pipe or racing mufflers/glass packs, but is there anything easier? My preference would be 3" turn-down resonator tips, but I have no idea where to find those (and please don't just say "Google!").

One last question; I want to put a short throw shifter on my car. What brand would you recommend?

i think 2in pipe is a little small? i think stock piping is 2.25. other than that you could try just dumping the exhaus with the stock mufflers idk how it would sound but worth a try, if you dont like it get flows or something

I'm kinda in a toss-up right now between the Tri-Ax and the MGW. I hear they are both very good. The problem is, all of the sites I find them at list both as being the shortest throw. Obviously, they're either the exact same, or one really is shorter. However, I can't find any definitive answer. The one thing that I really like is the adjustable arm position on the MGW.

Also, a little off topic, but can anyone point me towards a guide on taking apart the dash? I'm trying to install an AUX cable on my custom stereo, but I have no idea how to get to it (as it was a previous owner who put the stereo in).

EDIT: Figured it out. That was too easy. Now I need to figure out how to get the shifter piece to fit back together...

Another couple of things I have been thinking about are UDP's and cams.

As for the UDP's, my issue is that I have a sound system in my car. It consists of a custom head unit, Alpine interior speakers, two 1000 watt amps, and three 8" competition level sub-woofers. I have heard that a UDP will give you a decent bang for your buck (just like a CAI), but I know that it would create problems for my sound system. From what I know, ODP's can help with this, but I'm not sure as to how all of that works. If someone could explain, that would be great.

Cams are a mod that I have been looking at since before I got my car. What I'd like to get out of a cam is that old muscle car idle shake. I would love to see my car shudder from side to side while parked or stopped at a light. I was told that this was not too hard to do, and that someone with enough experience could grind me a cam for this purpose. However, I don't know anyone who does this, so I'm wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for any help you can give or have given. I'd really hate to make the wrong decision if it's going to cost both arms and a leg in one go.

You have an 01 so technically nobody makes an overdrive for the alternator. If I can get to the shop tomorrow, I may be making some though. on a 25% you shouldn't have any issues anyway.

For a cam, get with Tom at SuperSixMotorsports.com
