Looking for 8.8
Since I can not post in the WTB or trade ad's i get to post it here...I want a New 8.8 full assembly...under 1K. Main reason i have found 9 inch rear ends for around 800. Second the wife said I could buy it...but i have to get her something equal in price. Ive tried summit, jegs, NTO, american muscle, just rearends, and lots of google...am i out of luck or just havent hit the right spot. I know everyone wants 8.8, but most Stangs around here are beefing up to 9's and I dont want a used or build, the boss said no.

they have the 8.8 rear end already installed with 3.73 or 4.10 and one other gear ratio that escapes plus t-lock all axles are under 900 im pretty sure
also you will need to buy the pinion flange for the 8.8 if your installing this into a v6 just fyi.
gluck to you.

You don't need a pinion flange. Haven't we warned you to go hide out in your S197 section and stop spreading misinformation over here? That site is a ripoff anyway, an 8.8 only cost about $200, and if you want to put gears in it or do any upgrades, you'll be hardpressed to get over $800 unless you go all out.
sorry i didnt speak clearly if you a 2005+ model mustang you will need the flange. If you have any year lower i dont think you need it, but i cant be sure cause idk. Ryan for the love of god do not take that the wrong way.....but i just did this to my car all under 800$ which is what he said he wanted to spend so please im asking very nicely in a non aggressive manner to not blow up on me as you have done before. ;-)
sorry for if i indeed said any misinformation i just know what i had 2 do to install my 8.8 anyways gluck was just trying to help :-/

IRS's are coming way down in price too in case you want to play with those.
but be warned, to build them up is gunna cost ya more than an 8.8" with a MM coil over and grip kit.
Between KB Uppers and lower and coil over and steer kit and dif brace and stronger axles and gears and bushings and OMG IT JUST DOESNT STOP ADDING UP! you can really lose the bank quick.
Like Ryan said, a built 7.5" is just as strong as a built 8.8" and is lighter. Also adding backcut ring gear and drilled pinion will also shave weight.

Thanks for the info, I have the ford racing posi trac in now...one of the carrier bolts came loose and the tip was shredded off. Im not sure what all damage was done to it but i dont really want to take chances with it. So I may just have it totally rebuilt. Are the 8.8 and 7.5 axles the same size in dia.?
