I just attempted to install a Magnaflow cat-back (#15717) on my mustang. I was led to believe that it was a simple in the driveway type project. It was not. The fit sucked, the directions sucked. It took everything I had to get it on. I am not 100% satisfied with it but its too late to go back now.

Has anyone ever installed this system or know of anyone that can help me with a few questions I have about the system. Wasn't there a Magnaflow rep on her a while back?

 

 

Have you tried loosening the whole system to permit shifting things around to get a fit where pipes miss touching the body?

 

I found mine to be one of the easiest systems I've ever installed.

 

I went back out this morning and took it all apart.

Here is what was confusing to me. The cat-back part with the mufflers that connects to the Y coming from the cats is installed so that the MAGNAFLOW stamped on the mufflers is upside down. I tried it both ways and it stuck too far down with the MAGNAFLOW label right side up.

I would have thought that they would have stuck the mufflers so that the manufacturers name would have been readable.

Has anyone else experienced this?

 

Who cares which way the name goes??? Nobody will see it under the car. Most dual set ups will have the mufflers opposite of each othe due to the mirror image nature of the set up.

 

My brother had this exact system installed on his 02 by a shop after I failed putting it on and yes I could not get the magnaflow going the right way but who cares too much.
