Guys,
I am new to US and even newer to Mustangs, though since my teenage I have cherished this Pony car like anything, recently I bought a pre-owned Mustang v6 (2004), vehicle is an awesome one, smooth and very well kept by its previous owner but somehow I feel that its not picking of the road like the way it should, I have observed better lift in civic 2003 and maxima 2004. Given the guy was a local commuter and aged (well I know with v6 I shouldnt be aiming too high) is there any chance he could have reduced the pick up and acceleration to gain more economy rather than style out of this car, if he has..please tell me how to fix this??

No not without a tuner. There are, however, a lot of things that will reduce engine hp over time, not just for a Mustang but any car.
Low tire pressure
Worn/bad spark plugs
Worn/bad sprk plug wires
Worn/bad ignition coils
Dirty/faulty sensors
Clogged fuel filter
Dirty/bad air filter
Faulty fuel pump
Faulty fuel pressure regulator
Excessive millage on oil causing gunk build up in the cylinders and heads
Low transmission oil
Worn/damaged clutch/pressure plate (manual)
Worn/damaged torque converter (auto)
Head gasket failure
Exhaust leak

Now with all that mentioned odds are you just need a tune up:
New spark plug wires, spark plugs, coil pack, engine oil change, check/fill transmission oil, change fuel line filter, change radiator fluid.

That being said welcome to the board, follow J's advice. The 3.8's aren't anything special in stock trim, mid-low 16 second cars in the 1/4, so you might just be expecting too much.

What does a new edge GT vs a V6 Maxima have to do with him trying to restore power in his new auto 3.8?
