So without going all out what is the best bang for the buck? I wanna make this v6 into a fun little car and its underpowered from the factory. And how much is cheap stagnant? Totally new to the mustang field.

Best bang for your buck would be a splitport swap. Then the next bang for your buck mod after SP swap would be some sort of forced induction.

What basic mods do you suggest? Not comfortable and I dont have enough money for the more hardcore mods. Every mod I was considering is pretty much bolt on.

basic bolt ons would be long tubes, H pipe and some chambered mufflers.

Then gears/LSD or 8.8 swap.

If you have a manual, you could get a short throw shifter. If auto, get a j mod valve body.

edit** since your already going to have the heads off, do a splitport swap. I suggest a 99-00 lower intake so you dont have IMRC's. instant 40bhp increase... depending on condition of engine of course.

1500 before or after the price of the car?
With you turning the wrenches.....You could pull off a s/c swap for that price, you could pull off a split port swap for that price, you could pull off a H/C/I swap for that price just depends what you want.
