Hey guys,
So I sat down and started thinking about it, is it worth to fix/build my sixxer? As it sits right now it needs suspension, starter?, exhaust, possible tranny work, steering components, parking brake, body work, and other stuff I'm probably forgetting. Now I know most of this is regular maintenance, but that;s gonna be a decent chunk of change to get done, and my car is coming up on 162k. My dream was to slowly build it up with junkyard parts and make a v6 that would shut up all the haters, but I don't know how realistic that goal is anymore. I've been doing some research and, I could sell it somewhere around 3k, and I should be receiving ~$1000 by the end of the month. I was thinking about buying another mustang, but a v8 because I want more power, or maybe going for a sn95 or fox that is built up a bit. I'm not really sure what to do at this point and I'm just looking for a bit of feedback, so what do you guys think I should do?

 

To me, it would be more fun to get a beat up car back in shape then it would be to buy a new one. But thats me. A v6 won't be a speed demon, but you can still have some fun with it and get better gas milage at the same time.

 

get in back in running shape and take care of her and trick it out. you already have the foundation

 

To be honest I had kinda the same goals but have recently found a 94 5.0 and have no desire to dump money into trying to make my v6 fast anymore. Instead I'm making the 5.0 fast and keeping the v6 as a real clean comfy daily driver.

 

You know your V6 probably makes more rwhp than that '94 right?

 

if you have the time and a little bit of money, you can make that 3.8 beat almost any car on the streat and easily crush any little civic or accord that challenges you

 

Sorry I have to disagree with this whole post, a v6 can be a speed demon in you know what you are doing, however the Essex motors actually have a higher fuel/air demand then the mod motors so you will not be getting much if any better milage, my GT is actually better on fuel then my 6er was

 

I am partial to the new 3.7 motor, it has great potential, just my 2 cents.

 

if you have to do all that work to it, then you will already have it taken apart.... In my opinion thats a great time to do upgrades. if you think about it, you are going to have to buy some replacement parts so why not buy parts that are a little bit better than whats already in it? I say go for the rebuild, it would be a fun project

 

Yeah but he's working on a 3.8, completely different beast.


And yes LilRoush I realize this but there is a much bigger aftermarket for the 5.0 as well as the 04 is in much better condition and newer so I don't want to tear it up just yet. Plus that 3.8 just can't compete with that 5.0 for exhaust tone lol.

Parts for the 94 can be had for way cheaper than the 04 as well which makes modifying it that much more fun.
