ok, here we go..... pic of my install.
I dont know what good that would do. The radar is on the dash which is lower than the hood, not very effective. proper placement of a rd is high on the windsheild. Like directly under the rear view mirror

I think it would do very well....

From Radarbusters.com: "Don’t mount it high!
During the testing of the products reviewed on RadarBusters by Radar Roy and Speed Measurement Laboratories, the radar detector is always mounted in the manner the manufacture recommends in their manual, in the center of the windshield.

However you will see on this page, that mounting it in this manner will not allow it to receive laser alerts. A laser beam shot at 500 feet is only 18†wide when it hits your vehicle. Police target either the front license plate or the headlamps. If the radar detector is mounted in the center of the windshield, it will be too high to receive any of the “splatter†that may indicate you are being targeted by a police laser gun. "

Plus, it has never done me wrong....

what do you guys recommend for radar detectors. I'm thinking of getting a passport 8500 x50, but I am wondering if the valentine one is better?

i researched the topic of radar's throughly and the x50 passport is better than the valentine 1 it has better range and filtering(the annoying beeps) but the best radar is the beltronics RX65 pro or the vector 995 (my radar) works amazing. i get about 2-3 minutes notice on highways of cops and i can turn of X band (automatic doors and other things) which will make you want to throw your radar out the window because it goes off so much. go to www.radarbusters.com for more info. BTW radar jammers dont work. and laser jammers work ok.

over all go with: Bel. Rx65, Passport 8500 x50, or Bel. Vector 995.

P.S. bel and escort are the same company

happy speeding
