GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola
executive It came from one of his engineer buddies
who retired from Halliburton. It's worth your
consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit
close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might
go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We
need to take some intelligent, united action.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes
MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain
day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that because they
knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by
refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience
to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at
about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently
$2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the
oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at
$1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to
teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not
sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each
day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we
are going to see the price of gas come down is if we
hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their
gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How?

Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop
buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if
we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T
purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies
(which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not
selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their
prices. If they reduce their prices, the other
companies will have to follow suit. But to have an
impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon
and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now,
don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and
I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of
people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us
send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and
those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =
3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches
the sixth group of people, we will have reached over
THREE MILLION consumers.

If those three million get excited and pass this on to
ten friends each, then 30 million people will have
been contacted! If it goes one level further, you
guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million
and all you have to do is send this to 10 people....
Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician.
But I am . so trust me on this one.) :-)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends

this
e-mail out to ten more people within one day of
receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be
contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you
didn't think you and I had that much potential, did
you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message
on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL
THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP
THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK

...sounds good on paper, but I'm a sceptic. All you would be doing is giving your money to Texaco or who ever you buy your gas from. Exxon may see the drop, but Texaco would see the rise. The fatcats are going to keep getting fatter regardless of what we do. I'm sure it was an accounting exec from Texaco or BP etc.. that came up with this idea in an effort to get their profits up to par with Exxon and Mobile. It's a money game the big dogs are playing. It's almost like the "pass it on" emails you get where you get the big screen TV after sending it to 25 people. Any of you watching that free big screen right now? Me either...
As stated, we're not going to quit buying gas, thats a known fact, and it just seems to have become the "American" way of life that the rich people run our country and the little man suffers. Sorry if I've offended any of you, but it's reality. Government is corupt, looking out for only themselves and letting coorporations do what ever they want in order to get campaign money and votes. Even your little hick town county commisioners and so on are corupt as hell and driven by the dollar. You want to make a difference, DONT VOTE next time we have an election. Send a message to the politicians saying that we know they don't give a rats *** about us and we refuse to vote for the idiots running for office. I know, it'll never happen, but wouldn't it be funny if there was like a 5% turn out to vote. I assure you that we would see some changes after that! And if your saying "if we don't vote we'll end up with someone in office that doesn't deserve to be there"...... isn't that what we seem to end up with anyway? Sorry about the rant

I for one will continue to buy gas anywhere because I know that we the "little man" will never make a difference and our opinions don't matter.

i never buy gas at those places i normaly buy at racetrack, shell, and kangaroo. the prices might go down and they might go up. but we the citizens are the only ones having problems with this. i am a junior in high school and i know the way prices went up last year, if that happens again then im gonna be ridding the bus, if the county doesnt stop them due to the price of gas. ( it was talked about right after the hurricanes)

Being that i was raised by the oilfield, lol. This would never work. TO make it simple, Exxon and Mobil
will sell their gas to Texaco and other smaller companies. They already do this everyday. It would never
hurt them.

i dont think this would work, in fact, even if everybody "went yellow" i'd bet that those companies would buy the corn feilds and the manufacturing plants

anyways, have any of you guys seen gas prices in europe or in the middle east? yeah, like $6 a gallon

the problem with the oil company isnt so much that the reserves are low or that we in general are running out of oil. i dont believe that load for a minute. they see we need it so now instead of doing gentle hikes they are raping and pilaging because they know nobody out there has the brass or the power to stop it. the price of gas went up dramatically after katrina. fine thats all over with for the most part, but now the price has stayed that high ever since. in my book it was exactly what the gas man wanted to happen. they needed an excuse and that was it, now they got their hands on everything. has anybody looked at the price of e85 lately? honestly who do you think owns e85? or the patent to e85?! gas man. the price of e85 has jumped to. if its so renewable then the price of e85 should stay relatively low when you compare it to gas. in my area e85 jumped 15 cents when gas did. somethings fishy here. so long as the gas man has no checks or balances then we will continue to see gas jump higher and higher. i for one am sick of seeing gas get more expensive but until we have a way that is guarenteed to work, we are just pay it regaurdless.

All of these schemes are just that... schemes. They will never work, simply because the "big" companies make so much money from reselling to smaller companies, as well as selling other products to other entities.

For example, the airline industry. Lots of fuel is consumed outside of our little scope of fuel use.

One thing that does blow me away is when I see as many cars at a Shell I pass on my way home that is routinely significantly more expensive (i.e., more than $.05/gal) more than the BP and Mobil on two of the other corners at the intersection. There are apparently some people who not only have no problem with price gouging, but, I guess, actually enjoy being exploited by these companies by playing into their sham. I wonder about any market for less expensive fuel when I see people actually WILLING to spend more than they need to at the current time. I can't help but scratch my head at the fact that so many people will clamor for "someone to do something" but not even take the most minor steps on their own. I guess that's some people's concept of "personal responsibility."
