t-lok will be fine with bolt ons, however if you want to go F/I i would recomend a detroit true trac for something that will last alot longer

the data that my buddy crapped out 2 t-loks in 80k with a 5 speed, and this has nothing to do with the style car, this is a ford 7.5" rear end part

I've been pushing over 400 ft/lbs through mine... I've moved up to DR's... When I spray I hit over 450ft/lbs... heck... I broke my motor before I broke the track-lock! LOL!

Did you buddy break his or simply wear out the clutches? What year? What kind of HP? What kind of tires?

it was a 99, just bolt ons with fuzion tires, i would think that they would last more then 40k before wearing out the clutches,

perhaps the clutches have improved... I have close to 30,000 miles on mine... NUMEROUS hard launches at the track... probably over 40 passes at the track... another couple dozen HARD LAUNCHES on the street... And of course I also drive the car pretty hard around town... no signs of wearing out... I really don't think you can write the current track-lock off based on just your buddies experience....
