Default Audio!

Hey guys. A really quick question.
Its an audio question for my brand new 06 mustang.
I just bought a 12" W6 JL sub and was wondering what kind of amp I would need.
Inm running it off a pioneer 750 watt amm right noew (which is probably only 350 RMS wattage) and
it sounds descent. But to get the full potential out of it what sdo I get. All I need is the AMP.
How much do you guys think that it will cost me.

The Hifonics zx8000 allows multiple variations to hook up your speakers and it has its own cooling unit (never shuts off) and has never shut off on me. It is pretty sweet.

Not to hijack, but I haven't gotten a terribly huge response in the audio forum so I thought I'd pop it out to you guys. Are you still using the stock deck? (shaker, preferably)

If so, how'd you wire your subs into the system?

What is the wattage rating on the sub, 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm? Get and amp that has the same RMS rating as the sub and is stable at 2 ohms. As for brands..Phoenix Gold is one of the best but expensive. The amp brand depends on your budget. I've been happy with Lightning Audio (they're cheap but decent for the money)

I just got done hooking my subs to my shaker 500. I used an inline converter ( from Best Buy) and spliced into the rear deck speakers. Went from converter to amp w/ RCAs and then to subs.

Hope that helps ya some.

Very much so, thank you. So you didn't even have to run any wiring outside the trunk, did you?

By the way, very hot car.

Thanks! Yours too!

I had to run the power cable from the battery to the amp and the remote turn on to the fuse box, but that's it. The rest is done in the trunk.

This thread is making me want to hook up my subs... I had 2 Polk 12" DBs with an MTX amp in my old car, when I traded it in I put it all in the trunk of the Stang to take it home. Took up 95% of my little vert trunk so it's been sitting in my closet ever since.

Maybe I'll bridge the amp and only hook up one of my subs... I'll still have half a trunk after that!
