Default Changing tire size

Since I drive my V6 everyday and on some trips I am concerned about going to bigger wheels. How much does it actually affect the ride of the car? Husband said to go ahead with tires and wheels if I want them, but I would rather have CAI and tuner if ride gets a lot stiffer. Thought I would just get some "Pony" spinners or center caps and spent the rest of the money on other things.

It depends on what tires/ wheels you're looking at, but there shouldn't be much change to the ride quality. The ride shouldn't get stiffer unless you make suspension changes or go to a tire that has a really short sidewall.

I have 20"wheels and tires... my rear wheels are very wide... 10" so it helps on handling... but as far as ride quality... I can feel alittle more because my tires are more low profile.... so its a 50/50 thing...

I'm thinking 18", so should be OK. Thanks for the help.

I had the standard 16" wheels with spinners that you have on your Mustang now. I upgraded and bought a set of the 17" GT take off's from Saleen. The ride stayed about the same, but the handling around corners improved.

Does going to 18's - 20's affect our warranty? Do you need to upgrade the brake system as well.

I was going to go with 18s but decided i wanted the car lower to the ground, the 18s raise the car a bit,but with a 40 series 17 i think it will be lower and handle better.

It depends on what tires you run though. The stock tires are pretty tall, if you run a bigger wheel with a lower profile tire you might end up at the same overall height and your car would not be higher.

Yeap i was thinking that going to a 17 inch wheel and a 45 would be 26.1 tall and the 40 would be around 25 inches, this would lower the car a inch or two depending on which tire.this would be lower then a 18 with a low profile tire.
