Picking the correct tire...
So, I've been doing a little bit of searching (research) on the forum for the past couple of weeks. Wish I had time to read more....anyway.
If anyone and everyone can help with choosing the correct Tire...........
I found the Wheels: Ford Racing 05-06 Special Edition Black Bullitt 18 inch Wheels. I looked all over for these online and finally found them at www.buyfordracing.com (without going to a dealership).
I noticed 18 X 9 and 18 X 10 were the sizes one can get. Which one is better? And also, what's the offset? Anyone know off-hand, just wondering.
My big question would be, TIRES: Can anyone recommend a certain Brand and Size. Most online tire stores recommend 255/45/18. I seen 275/?? on the rear while having 255/?? on the front. Any thoughts and any sites with good prices? Not looking to pay more than its worth but definitely want to get a sticky tire that will last long enough.
I need help, I'm buying these for my girlfriend. She has many plans for her Mustang and this is step 2. I dont know a whole lot about Domestics nor Mustangs. I was more into Imports but as of lately. The more and more I read about Mustangs, the more I am falling in I love with em.
Thanks to all that read and post! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

The black bullits are sweet but Im not an expert on wheels so I dont know about the rest. They put 275's in the rear to have more rubber and give it that cool stance although in the end it kinda sucks cause you cant rotate your tires if you have different sizes.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP HIM!

I also thought about that as well, with the rotation. Use what tire you have and get new ones.......
What I really need is just Tire Brand recommendation, possiby size.......

ok,
the offset isnt really important if fordis saying they fit the 05 06.(cant rememberwhat it is offhand) and 18x9 is about as wide as you can go on the front(youll rub with wider)
as for tires,
255/45/18 as reccomended because it is the exact same diameter as stock, thus you dont have to calibrate your speedo.
you can put 18x9's up front, wit 255/45/18's. and say 18x10's out back with 275/40/18 (any other 18" tire with the same overall Diameter as stock.) but you wont be able to rotate your tires. BUT in reality you cant really rotate high performance tires anyway because the are directional(can only spin one way). BUT if you go with 18x9 all around with 255/45/18's you can rotate the front to back and back to front (hope im not confusing you)
as for price, they are going to be up there to get a brand you recognize.I like my 255/45/18" toyo proxies, but they are $219 per tire[:@][:@][:@]
just incase you cant read tire language:
255/45/18 the 255 means mm wide on the ground
255/45/18 the 45 means percent of width that the sidewall is high
the 18 means rim size
hope that helps!

A good friend has a Boosted 350Z with 255 Front and 275 Proxes in the Rear (I believe and he stated each tire was close to $300). I considered those but was not too sure of how well they performed on a Mustang. Most people I know have Falken Azenis RT-615 on Honda's & Nissan's, although, none have em on Mustangs.
About the 18X9 vs 18X10, thats what I wanted to know on those wheels!
Whats your Threadwear btw, on those Proxes?
Bigger tires also have a downside....Bigger tires more weight + you have a higher chance of hydroplaning... someone once explained it to me like this....If you are water skiing is it easier to ski on fat skis or skinny ones?
In my personal experience I'm loving my Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires that I had put on my beater. However when I get my Mustang I plan on eventually getting Nitto's so yeah. The Pilot Exalto's are great for traction while rolling and somewhat in cornering, and great in the rain, but sadly my slow *** Honda Accord can make these tires chirp, so they're not good for take-off traction, thus why I'll be getting Nittos. The downside to the Nittos are traction while raining. If anything you can get some great tires such as the Michelins and get a pair of Nittos with a lightweight cheap wheel to throw them on for the strip and whatnot. That's just me IMHO.
