Hmmm, been tossing Vortech and Procharger back and forth all day.

My tuner is a Procharger distributer and he prefers the install on them to the Vortech.

It all comes down to personal preference, usually does anyway.

I've known my tuner for about ten years and I know if there any problems he wil stand behind it, but I have to say if I didn't have confidence in him I would be gun shy about the Procharger. Besdies it seems the Vortech is cheaper.

Hey, if you guys don't mind would some of you post what you paid for your S/C, just the kit, not labor or incidentals.

.. ok ...
i agree its not all that great yes you are put on hold for awhile... and they might be a tad on the unfriendly side. but your not the only customer they have to help.. NOW im a customer service person really and i was annoyed by it aswell but im not gonna burn that bridge incase i need help at some point in time with there product.. I havent dealt with vortech but dont rule out procharger..
its like going to
burger king over mc donalds because the cashier gave me the wrong change or vice versa... its 50/50
unfortunately I seem to hear a lot more Procharger BAD customer service storys than Good ones... While Vortech seems to be just the opposite. I mean if I'm buying something I know I won't need help with then I don't worry to much about customer service... but something like a supercharger..... well, customer service is very important!

If I hear that the people at burger king are consistently short changing their customers and are nasty people to deal with and I hear that every one at mcdonald's greets you with a smile, and when they make a mistake (which is bound to happen eventually!) they are pleasant to deal with... guess where I'll spend my money! LOL!

Agreed. I've been watching people get the various superchargers and have heard bad things in every instance with the procharger. Not one bad remark about the Vortech. You said this a long time ago and at the time i thought you were being partial because Lidio sold Vortechs. Now i see why Lidio sells the Vortech. I tried to keep an open mind about it(ok, maybe MSP made me root for the procharger! LOL!) but after reading everyone's experiences, I would pick the Vortech if I was going centri. The Vortech seems like a quality piece in every respect. Sorry i ever doubted you.

It`s ok to be busy at customer service,It`s how you handle it that counts. If they are really backed up have the courtesy to say so and suggest a better time to call,or like some bus` I deal with take a number and call the customer back.

Ok guys, so my dad has a machine shop and he builds race engines... turns out one of his customers is Tony Briante who is sponsered by procharger and has the fastest 5.0 mustang in the country. So he made a few phone calls for me and talked to the right people and said i should expect a phone call monday morning and that i will be takin care of. So it kinda sucks but i guess it's all about who you know. Hopefully this whole problem will be takin care of and we can see some numbers on the dyno

Ok, first off.... I've been listening to stories of "bad" customer service from ProCharger for a long time. It's not secret I've had issues with my kit. I've called for anything from problems, to questions and have never ONCE had a bad experience. I'm not sure if I'm doing something different while talking with these people or what.... but not once. Always 100% professional, always 100% knowledgeable. When I bought my kit, I bought it expecting bad CS, because that's all I heard. I bought the kit for the hardware, and that's it. But I was pleasantly suprised.... and I didn't even order it through them!!

Now onto the issue. It sounds like it could be one of three problems:

1) Bad surge valve. I went through THREE before I got a good one. The first one wouldn't stay open all the way. It was dumping excess boost, but it wasn't doing it in the smooth "Whoooosh...." way it should've been doing it. On top of that, it didn't quite close all the way (though I still built 8-9 psi of boost. The second one did the same thing, but squeaked when doing it. I talked to Shannon at ATI, and he handpicked a surge valve for me. Next day air, pre-paid FedEx stickers, the whole 9 yards. Now I get a very satisfiying "WHOOOSH" when I let off the gas. The surge valve should only be open in a vacuum situation. That is what triggers it. If there is no vacuum, it will stay closed. I never had this problem, though.

2) Tensioner pulley not on correct hole. There are three holes. Look at your manual. Depending on what size pulley you have, the tensioner will go on an appropriately spaced hole. If you have it on the wrong hole, it could be there is not enough tension on the belt which could cause the SC pulley to slip, therefore not making it spin as fast.

3) Bad belt. If you had a bad belt that is slipping, you could have the same issue (highly unlikely).

Give me a call. I PM'd you my cell phone number. I'm not doing anything today, since I'm in San Antonio for a conference that starts tomorrow. I will help you troubleshoot. I can also give you some contacts at ProCharger, who I am sure will help you.

Sorry you've had a bad experience, and sorry for my rant at the beginning of my post. It's just that I've dealt extensively with ProCharger, and they have always been awesome. Their kit is not perfect. I'm not sure any kit is. But I still feel it is by far the best supercharger out there. If money was not an issue, I'd have gotten the turbo. They're just more efficient.

I forgot to mention. I just wanted to come out and say I have only heard good things about Vortech's customer service. That is admirable.

My dislike of the Vortech system goes deeper than customer service or engineering design (tapping the oil pan). The big problem I've had with them is their advertising department and their outrageous claims. It is a good system, but they always seem on the attack regarding other companies (especially ProCharger). If you go search the ProCharger webpage, you can find very detailed pages disproving Vortech's attacks (though they'll never point out or slanderize their attacker...) These studies are always conducted by a third party unlike the Vortech tech sheets. This means a lot to me.... as I see it too often (mostly in the computer hardware arena).

Just wanted to clear that up.
