Default MRT vs BORLA

There are many exhaust posts around and plenty of info on the MRT axle back kit, but I still do not see too much info on the borla system. I saw one video of it and I think it was on a GT and it sounded amazing. The MRT sounds really good too, but I hear mixed opinians about the sound becomming annoying inside the car. I only have the cash for a single axle back kit for now. I know the MRT is my best bet for performance, but I don't wanna be stuck with an annoying car. I am looking for a smooth deep growl and some more HP just like everyone else I guess...So for all you guys that have the MRT please share your experience, and if anyone is runnign a single Borla, share that too. laterr

There doesn't appear to be many guys on here with a "true" Borla exhaust...mainly due to the fact that the Ford Racing muffler is the same thing but at nearly half the price.

I have the Ford Racing muffler and enjoy it a lot. The initial loud noise and drone soon mellowed into a subtle yet satisfying extra throatiness. I am personally very happy with it. The MRT sounds very good from what I hear too and may give a little more performance due to its aeroturbine design.

Feel free to download my video clip of the FR muffler at the website in my sig.
I am hoping to make another shortly as my wife's camera work wasn't so hot on the first one!

Ive got mrts and they dont drone at all. actually they are relativly quiet inside compared to my old flowmasters. My glasspacks might have something to do with that, im not sure. Look at the "new exhaust set up" post and you can listen to it. Either way i think youll be happy.

Britinastang -- How many miles would you estimate you have on your FRPP muffler? I'm approaching about 1500, and I noticed that mine has mellowed a bit more than yours sounds in the clip. It has a real nice, even note between 2000-3500 rpms.

Only around 500 so far. It has definitely mellowed from the original, and probably some since I took the clip.
It seems to have to warm up too before you get that sound. When I start her up in the morning she ain't loud for a good few minutes.
I prefer to the mellow sound. The original sound was outrageously loud

Absolutely. The first thing I thought was that my neighbors, who have a new baby, were going to hate me! After a couple of weeks though, it really did mellow out. And like I mention above, it seems to continue to mellow for some time. I really like the sound coming from it right now. It almost has an underwater-like sound in that 2000-3500 range. Music to my ears!
