Roush engine swap??
Hey all,
I was just planning out the future of my sixxer and thought about a Roush engine swap. I'm not sure though, can the V6 chassis/frame/suspension handle a beefy v8 roush engine? The plan is to sweeten up the exterior as much as possible and then after the warranty is gone, swap it!
What do you all think? Is this far out of reach? I plan on keeping this car a *long* time.
Thanks,
Mike

I thought about doing an engine swap too, but keep in mind there is a lot of work to do. Tranny, rear end, labor, etc. Probably looking in excess of $12000. If you got the money do it, one hell of a sleeper.

the suspension, no it probably can't handle it.
if i were u i'd probably just buy a Roush... might end up being easier and more cost effective than trying to completely rebuild your car
I thought about doing an engine swap too and everyone told me "if you want a GT... trade the car because it'll be much cheaper and alot less hassle." That's what the guys at Powered by Ford said to me that is, which is why for now I just decided to beef up the V6! Because if I ever go to a V8... it'll be either a classic fastback stang with a 351 Clievland (I think I spelt it correct) or a 428 (which will most likly never happen) or I'll get a 5.4L V8 and probably just buy a Boss 330 which comes out this Fall (wouldn't buy it for quite a while though I don't make near enough money and insurance would butt rape me!)
The 6er is very nice and I can still kill a ricer in the long run

Thanks for all the info! It definitely would be one hell of a sleeper, especially with a V6 pony package grill
. I understand it's a lot of work but it would definitely be a car I'd keep forever. Instant classic!

Haha! I didn't know a Ford had a 454 I though that was just Chevy, eh cool the bigger the better! Yea that would be awesome and the cobra engines are nice!! My great uncle has a 1970 Mach 1 w/ a 302 I want it really bad but unfortionatly it needs some work done and there's nowhere to put it at my house... but oh well.
NO FORD 454, but back in the day there was a LINCOLN 460 that could be modified.
I admire the ambition that you are displaying, but from a practical standpoint, you would be better off to trade off for a ROUSH. If you are good at fabrication and good at scavenging for parts you might have fun doing the swap, my guess is that when you get into it there would be some issues that might make this project a handful.
