Default Revving the engine!

I just installed my gt takeoff single exhaust. I am satisfied with the sound of the single takeoff muffler.
After the install I was in the car and revving the engine to experience the new sound, I notice something new. When I rev the engine to hear the exhaust sound at a higher rpm, the rpm will not exceed 4,000. I rev the engine and depress the accelerator pedal to thefloor however the rpms, while in park, do not exceed 4,000 rpm. I am just wondering if this a built-in safety device to not over rev the engine in park.

Guess I'm not really answering your post here... just wanted to say that I dig the C-stripe. Looks really sharp. What's with the door trim though. Did the dealership add that?

They do that. That is normal.

Thank you for viewing the post. Yeah I agree with you, I like the way the c-stripe looks. The c-stripe and door panel trim (I overhead someone call it a anti-ding trim) were already on the car when I purchased it at my local ford dealer. On the rear of the trunk is a trunk accent stripe, which was already applied before my purchase. I have a gallery in my profile.

it is a rev limiter and the throttle is done by your computer so you dont blow your engine! Nice car BTW!
