Default First Road trip!! almost too loud

Hey everyone, I just took my first road trip. Me and some friends decided to goto New Orleans on the 4th and watch the fireworks. We had a great trip, but the exhaust was just too loud. It took us 8hrs, and after about 4 we were like, "Are we there yet??". The car was pretty confortable up front, but the girls in back were kinda cramped. We drove mostly 80, and up to 110 mph on the way. The long bridge into New Orleans is where you can really get going, we had a convoy of about 5 vehicles just floating!!

I need to get rid of some of the exhaust noise inside of the car, tried to turn up the radio do drown it out, and sometimes they would hit a harmonic balance with each other, or just a frequency off, making it even louder. I am thinking of installing some dynamat or something similar before my next road trip.

The car handles great, and will get up and go when I need it to. I started to kick off the OD when I was gonna pass, cause it didn't downshift quick enough for me. I only really raced one other car and it was another mustang, like a 03 or 04. we were pretty even untill we ran into some traffic and had to slow down, don't know who would have won for sure, but I stayed ahead untill I had to let off.

All in all we had a pretty good trip, got alot of compliments on the car, and the Valet's didn't want to get out of the car, I wonder if they took if for a ride? When I got back in the car my cd had been changed, and my mirrors had been readjusted once. I took all my cd's out after that and set the trip, but forgot to look at it.

I got 23.7 mpg on the highway with 87 octane, and I been getting 22 with 93 around town. Not much of a gain, but I was driving kinda fast and I was using a lower octane fuel, I don't know if that had any effect, I was gonna check once with 93 and once with 87 to see the difference, but I didn't get to.

Well anyway, I gotta get to bed. I been up all night working, and after the trip home yesterday, I am beat. Later.

His profile says single Flowmaster.

I took mine out last weekend for a 4 hour round trip. The single JBA had just the right volume for me--top down or up.

I have a single flowmaster installed. I have the droning effect at low rpm's. It smooths out if I am around 3000 rpm. I have been reading some threads about installing the dynamat and similar products, I was planning on installing anyway to decrease the road noise. Since I have installed the new wheels and tires, I have picked up a noise from them, I guess I should have shopped around, but there isn't much to choose from in my area. I didn't do much research on the exhaust either. I have always heard good things about flowmaster and that is what I got. I of course had heard of borla, magna flow, etc..., but the local muffler shop had flowmasters and recomended them, of course. So now I have the droning effect, which doesn't bother me much around town, because of the constant accel & deccel involved, it is jut on the highway. I guess I will try the deadening material, and probably get a resonator. Just don't know which first. I am trying to find a reasonably priced resonator, any suggestions? Are the cheap ones any good, or do I NEED a Borla, or Flowmaster, they are around $100 +or-. I seen some others for around $43 from JEGS by Patriot, but there is no pic or details.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I plan on doing some more research befor I buy stuff from now on. I have also purchased a K&N filter, which I should have purchase a CAI. Guess I am just a spur of the moment buyer, sometimes.

Thanks for the help

Tim

Dynamats makes some of the exhaust noise ont he inside go away. also could buy a silencer and bolt it on but then you kind of lose your reason for the muffler

So should I toss the flowmaster and get jba's, or corsairs? Would this be a better solution in the long run?

Yeah if I were you I would get the JBA muffler, cause I have never heard of anyone having problems with drone on their JBA muffler.
