Default Oh hell.....

I just found out you need a jack stand to get to the underside of your car to install a short shifter.[:@] Needless to say I don't have one, so when it comes in I'll have to add that to the list of things for the profesionals(can't spell right now) to do. I guess it all works out cause I'll be needing them to install my T-Lok and makeing me an H-pipe. Oh well.

Dude, you can get a set of four jackstands at autozone for less than thirty bucks. You really only need 2.

yeah my apartment says that too, and as long as you're not in plain view of the leasing office, I doubt they'll ever know.

On the subject of jackstands -

IMO, I would not waste any money buying cheap jackstands. The "tri-pod" stamped steel ones are dangerous, IMO. There have been many sad endings where the cheap ones have collapsed or shifted while someone was under the car. Better ones have the rectangular base on them (and some with this design are also cheaply made and should be avoided). If anyone is going to buy a set - pay a little more and buy the best ones you can afford.

yea i was a little unaware of the work involed myself... i recieved it and thought it would take an hours or so like the last one i did... then i realized, on the instructions you have to drop your driveshaft (not too bad... only 4 bolts... but still...) and modify your old parts... kinda sucks... i will be doing it this weekend if you are interested in how it goes...

Do you have a friend in the military? If so ask him/her if they can take you on base to use the hobby garage there, that has an actual lift...plus all the tools you need. If I really need to get up under the car, I have used 4 ramps that I keep in the garage. It's over a 100 for all four, but worth it in my opinion.

your gonna need some special tools for the t-lock install, and a buddy, so I would research that before you take it apart.

True!!! Flapjack is the only one I know that did a lsd install himself. I wouldn't attempt gears unless you were a seasoned mechanic!
