Default spark plug picture

A few post back there were questions about my car running lean. Some wanted to see the old plugs so I scanned them. They are marked DF (drivers front), DM ( drivers middle), PR (passengers rear) etc...Anyway, as the car had 21k on it when I got it and had 30k when I took them out, it may not be applicable to whats going on. They are in rough shape, but that goes with the car being a ford fleet vehicle.

Another aside.. I got my SCT2 back from Alternative auto but forgot my C&L filter. I installed the 87 tune anyways and it wouldn't idle, not getting enough air through the S&B filter. I will put on the filter tonight and reinstall the tuner and see what happens.

No, I haven't, but I will this weekend when I install my LCA's and panhard bar. I'll take photos of them then. I'm curious to see what they look like myself.

Lean would be more grey discoloring than what your seeing. What I see is Detonation...look at PM (Passenger middle?) and PR...that much black with the electrode itself looking 'clean' is detonation or too hot of a plug.

I believe are plugs are actually a "cooler" plug...

Boss, do you happen to have a laptop? or acces to one? You can hook your X-Cal2 up to the laptop (with the proper USB cable) and datalog the car and watch things like the knock sensor..

detonation OR too hot of a plug is what I said. If you ahve a colder plug, then you have detonation. (Timing issue or wrong octane fuel - too low)

My laptop is 8 years old and won't run the Liveload, maybe ai should stop buying car parts and get a new laptop. But then those are the plugs that the car came with, and I didn't look at them before I modded the car. I know that the fuel used by ford was bad because the fuel filter was pouring out black crap.
