Default STS Turbo

Does anyone know if STS makes one of their turbo systems for the V6? I just watched an installation of it on a Vette and it seems like a sweet setup.

yeah...i don't think they have made one yet. I'm not sure if they're going to make one or not. If you feel like it and have resrouces for pipe bending, you can buy their universal kit and make it urself....that's what i was thinking about doing once upon a time

i was very interested in the sts system during the summer and truthfully, i almost surprised you guys with the first remote turbo v6, but right before i pulled the trigger i talked to some camaro guys that had them, and they said that you just have to be real careful of driving thru puddles and such cause you can ruin the turbo if enough water is splashed up there, or if a rock is shot up or something... If this car isn't your everyday driver, then it is a great idea, but i have to drive this in the snow every single day, so it was a nono for me. Here is the way you could work it out. When i was talking to sts, they told me that the gt system would bolt right up accept for the piping to the throttle body which is just like a 9" section and they said if i sent them the sizes and diameters and such they could bend it, or i could get that piece custom bent. They said they could send me the gt piping, with a smaller turbo (sized to my liking and specs). From there you would HAVE to get a dyno tune tho because the base tune is for the gt. give them a call, they are very helpful and they have some great people, it just wasnt right for me. If you have any questions about the system that you want answered quick i can probably answer most as i did alot of research, so just give me a pm.

some people hate the sound of this system, but i ****in love it!

http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...80000d8976.htm

thatd be so scary to hear right before a race from a light....oh god i love it so.

the more i think about it the more i want it. it puts down REALLY nice power per boost non intercooled, but what concerns me most is the location of the turbo (which really isn't too bad because it is up udner the bumper) but most of all, if you look at the install pics here and keep hitting next until you see the undercar pic with the intake side of the tubing hooked up, you will notice that the intake tubing goes UNDER the rear axle...if you think about that, assuming a few inches clearance so it doesn't get ripped off by the axle when you go in a pot hole, the pipe is only gonna be like 4 inches off the ground...i really dont want 2k worth of parts ripped off the bottom of my car because i go over a pot hole or some semi tread or something.

I agree the sound is sweet. As far as water goes their web site claims that water would have to be coming into the doors before it would enter the turbo. I wasn't aware of the piping clearance. That would be a concern every time you hit a pothole or speed bump. Some type of FI is still aways off, I want to do a few appearance and suspension mods first. Like I said I saw it on TV yesterday and thought I would get some input and file it away for future reference. I'm sure by the time I get around to doing something like that there will be several new options out there. Thanks for the input, I had seen the STS before but hadn't really thought about it till I actually saw and heard it.

Just think, if your not too hot with the v6 exhaust sound, you can switch to the kazoo sound with the STS,lol. I actually like it though.

well the biggest problem isn't water getting sucked up even...they make a snorkle kit so you can put the intake up under the rear fender or somewhere very safe. the biggest problem would be going thru a cold puddle of water imo. the fact that the turbo is DIRECTLY behind the rear, right side tire, water would definately splash up there. What happens when cold water hot *** metal? CRACK! now you need 800 bucks for a new turbo. I've heard mixed things about this. Some say that it doesn't cause enough of a temp change and any water would evaporate immediately. Others say, it would just take the turbo being splashed in enough water to cover a majority of it to crack the thing. I was sooo close to pulling the trigger on it, but the only info i could find about water being a problem was from owners or non-owners. non-owners saying mostly it was a problem, while owners said it was not a problem at all, but neither of those can really be reliable because they are so biased...i really would like to find a magazine with an article about how reliable it is. I was reading a review on their integra system and i guess it showed almost no lag, and made an extra 90fwhp with 5-psi non intercooled....that is AMAZING, but again no reliability info is around the net, so i cant bring myself to do it.

I believe they make those kits for offroading aswell. I would think that if they can stand up to off-road use they would be fine for normal street driving.
