Default hurst problem.

Ive had my hurst shifter in for 3-4 months now however i have had one problem with it all along. At about 3-4,000 rpm i get a metal rattling sound coming from the shifter? Any thoughts? It sounds like the 2 metal peices might be vibrating together? Anyone else had this problem and maybe a quick fix-it? Thanks

Default RE: hurst problem.

90 percent of Hurst owners have the problem. Hurst recommends a buffer between the shifter and handle when they are bolted up. Some guys use electrical tape, some a neoprene or silicone gasket. The problem is the die that punches the knurl sucks, so they don't match when you bolt them up. In time they loosen up and vibrate. They also recommend Loctite on the bolts, Blue preferably, but red will work also but a little tougher to unbolt. Hope this helps.[sm=icon_rock.gif]
