Default True or False...

Okay I am not going to beat the dead horse here... I think its funny to check out cai sites and see what they estimate HP... Steeda 16-20... I e mailed them and they said that to use a stock intake and not to go polished due to " heating the air." K& N says 7.54 and 7.07 for polished... I mean how do you determine the BS and whats true?? I mean if Steeda says 16-20 that most people would be on that band wagon....

Yea I don't why the say high gains like that. I wanna know how they get those numbers too.

When I first got my carI got the mmr intake cause it said it gave up to 18hp! lol They usually only give about 7 - 12hp gain I would just go with K&N CAI. I've seen fazm do just fine with it and its the cheapest one out there. There all pretty much about the same give or take.

any real claim of 16-20 HP, in my experience, through an intake, must include a change of the stock MAF housing, usually...and a good tune.
can't just have an air intake with a 16-20hp gain unless you're talkingof putting a giant air filter where your hood is lmao

well with those intakes, they always say that with the intake you need the custom tune. those numbers are based on the intake with the custom tune

I have the K & N Aircharger (non-polished) and tunes from Brenspeed and I have absolutely no complaints. No throttle lag, and more giddy up.

Well I think I am going to go with the K &N Typhoon class. It looks sharp and suppose to be a good model... So I ll get that this coming week and put a post back up... Polished will look good and from looking on K& N site, doesn't look like much of a difference between the two polished and non....

Okay, so as I am doing some more reading.. Steeda does say for the " high " gains, you need to re flash the computer... Now I am sure I ll get flamed for this next question... but doesn't that void the warrenty??? I mean, I have flashed my personal computer at my house. But flashing a computer in the car has its risks does it not???

It only voids the warranty if you don't flash it back to stock. there is no way to proove you altered the tune if you reflash to stock, all it shows is that the computer was reset which could have been caused by the battery being disconnected or going dead

With the K & N units, they don't require a tune. Those numbers that they post are simply by putting the CAI on by itself. I emailed their tech support a while ago about that, and that's what I was told. Now, if you want to get a tune for it, I definitely say go for it. It wakes the car up even more, you won't believe it.

As for "voiding the warranty," I've had my car at the dealership on 3 different occasions for warranty work. I just reflashed back to stock and never had an issue. In fact, they told me how much they liked the sound of the Flowmaster, and thought that the sound the K & N made was pretty cool!!!!!
