I bought the FRD-04 aux input adapter so I could use the AUX input on my shaker (approx $90).

**** EDIT **** the info below applies to a satellite radio adapter, not sure if you could make it work with IPOD / MP3 setup

Or for $30 go to Best Buy (or an equivalent) and buy an adapter that goes in-line with your radio antennae. You still use the FM modualator, but since this adapter effectively unplugs your antennae for you it makes almost all of the stations work with the modulator.

To test if this would work just unscrew your antennae and try your modulator, if it works okay then the $30 adaptor should solve your problem.

Go with the PIE FRD-04. Besides not having to worry about RF problems, the sound quality is SIGNIFICANTLY better.

FM sucks. Go with a direct line in.

GET "PERIPHERAL" DEVICE. http://peripheralelectronics.com THIS THING REALLY WORKS!!! USES THE AUX BUTTON ON YOUR SHAKER. DONT WORRY, THEY MAKE ONE FOR OUR MUSTANGS. I GOT ONE ON MINE AND MY IPOD SOUNDS GREAT. BYE, BYE TO CRAPPY FM TRANSMITTERS, GOOD RIDDANCE!

I also have the PIE FRD-04, I got it to augment a DLO dock I got for my iPod, and the quality is excellent. It's rather easy to install, I used some inline wiretaps to connect the power and ground wires going into the stereo. I ran the RCA cable to the center console, and there is a plastic plate you can snake it through next to the power outlet.

There is another product you may want to consider: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=968

Peripherals PXDP2 is a direct interface for the iPod to the stereo, lets you use the buttons on the stereo to control the iPod, display iPod track info on the stereo info display, charges it, etc. I haven't had an opportunity to try it out personally, but I've been considering it.

this is exactly what i purchased for my 06 mustang: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=973
make sure you select the harness for ford (PXH2FD1). easy to plug into rear of stereo but can be a little tricky removing the stereo. i didnt get the other similar device that lets you control the ipod through your stereo deck becuase i read of some glitches and incorrect song info on the radio display. i dont mind using my ipod itself to navigate through music while driving anyway and i haven't had any issues with sound or anything. also, this model allows you to plug any device with an audio jack into your stereo. music sounds crystal clear. also whats cool is that you can have your volume on the ipod to the max without sound distortion unlike the fm transmitter where you have to set volume at around 75% to avoid distorted sound. hope this helps anyone looking to get their digital music player hooked up to their 2005-2006 stang without using those crappy fm transmitters.
