Default New V6 Engine for 2008?

Ran accross this at Wikipedia

The Duratec 35 (code-name Cyclone) 265hp (198kW) and 250ft·lbf (339N·m) on 87 octane gas

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Cyclone_engine

Looks like the 4.0 is scheduledto bephased out at the end of '07 model year

Yeah, read about that too but there is no definate plan by Ford to put the Cyclone into Mustangs in 08.
I doubt very seriously they will.
4.0's with a few bolt on mods are getting better than 250 crank HP already.
I'm keepin my 07 stang and if I do any further mods it will be an engine swap out to a BOSS 302 with FI.' I might add a blower too though ;-).
Cyclone schmyclone!

They are going to need a stronger 4.0 or maybe a new engine to compete with the new cars coming out in the next few years. All the new v8's will probably be in the range of 375-450hp for the "GT" versions of like the challengers, camaro's, mustangs. The base cars are what keep these cars afloat. If the new v6 camaro(if there is one) will probably have about 250hp for about the same price as a new v6 mustang. 250>210. More people are going to go for what they can get their moneys worth.
Keep in mind this is all speculation though!!! If ford does switch to this v6 engine, its going to be a version of the new 3.5 because the current 3.5 is FWD. Only time will tell, i can't wait to see the future!!!!

I doubt they do it in 2008 but when they do
I'm sure it will be at the same time they update
the GT. If I had to guess maybe 2009.......I dunno though.

+1 on the 2009, i think thats what i saw for the redesign. From what i heard, its gonna be like when they updated the mustang from 98 to 99 style, more power and (hopefully) better looks.

there isn't going to be a v6 camaro according to EVERYONE i have talked to that is in the know. it is actually cheaper for chevy to drop a 350 in the damn thing than it is to go v6, and if they ever did go v6 they couldn't compete in price with the v6 stang. they should just do some head work and rework the exhaust/intake on the 4.0 that's easily good for 260chp.

ford should have taken the Essex 90 degree 4.2L F-150 engine and made it a DOHC instead of making a SOHC 4.0 Cologne or developing a 3.5L DOHC that puts out the same power as an 8yr old Chrysler 300M.

a DOHC Essex 4.2 would have probably made 300hp. not saying the cologne based 4.0 SOHC is a bad engine but the essex design is a brute for bottom end strength and being a 90 degree block is alot easier to do a DOHC on

stupid ford engineers. no wonder they have been losing money so badly
