The American Thunder is deeper than the 40's. I have one 40 on mine and it sounds like crap...Looking to take it off and replace it with a dual exhaust kit. My only thing is I can't decide which to get.

I heard the JBA Mufflers were nice... I have the dual H-pipe set up with Flowmaster 40's and I get nothing but compliments and I've actually been asked if it was a GT... so maybe it's just the single 40 that sounds like crap I don't know. But if I ever changed mufflers I would try JBA myself...

40's a not as loud as the single Flowmaster AT. My Flow barks at around 3000 rpm's and at 4500 roars. Interior noise is minimal. Some rumble at 1500-1800. But on the freeway w road noise at 2000-2500 sounds stock. The install is another feature, I put the Flowmaster on in 40 minutes and took it to muffler shop to weld it on (clamp bites) for $5.00.....

Actually original 40's are the loudest muffler flowmaster makes besides 1 chambers. The thunder version uses super 40's that have 2 additional "V" s behind the V that the originals have. It makes it a little deeper/quieter/less drone.

Furinox is right. I have a 40 series on my 4.0 and i love it. when i hit about 2400 rpm you can definatly notice the drone and from what i hear and read the AT dont have that problem and they have a little deeper tone. it all depepnds on what you like. if you dont give a **** about noise definatly go with a 40 series. if u still want the deep sound with less interior noise go with the AT. personally i love hearing it in my car. All personal preference
