Default C&L Install

I've been lurking for quite some time on these forums - I hate to come out of the stables only to start asking a question a fear as already been asked, but I'm coming up short on the search feature and I'm a little worried....

I just received my new (used) C&L Intake and will be receiving my tuner hopefully next week. I have a 2006 V6 (manual tranny), which at present is completely stock. Question surrounds the C&L I received - I have no install instructions, no installation hardware, & no installation tool (not sure this matters though). My knowledge stop right around being able to put gas in the car and do my oil changes, but I figure this can't be much harder! Anyway, since none of the above items were provided, can anyone help a brother out? I've got some time to plan this out, but just wanted to make sure I have everything I need as well as a good understanding of what needs to be done before I get going on this.

If this has already been covered, I apologize in advance. Thanks for you time and putting up with my noob questions

Hi, and welcome to the site! I myself just installed my C&L yesterday, and it's pretty straight forward. I have the instructions, if you would like me to photocopy them and email them to you just send me a Private Message with your email address.

Peace!
Scott

Scott,

Just shot you a PM - thanks for answering my plea! It appears to be somewhat straightforward, though one big question is regarding the supplied rubber 1" tubing on the C&L vs. the existing one on the stock setup. Anyway, those instructions should put my fears to rest.

How'd the install go for you? Was there anything not clearly covered in the instructions that you could enlighten me about?

Also, how'd you like the results? I'm curious, as most folks rave about the tuner/CAI upgrade, but many seem to have the automatic tranny, which seems to benefit a bit more from the tune itself. I see that you have a manual tranny like myself, so I was curious as to your results and your overall impressions. One ore thing, which programmer? XCal2?

Thanks again Scott!

You will need special screws for the throttle body housing.. the stock ones are self-tapping and will ruin the C&L holes.

Thanks everyone for responding. Been in contact with Scott and he alerted me on the self-tapping screws, that's definately good to know as they were not provided with the used kit I received. Once I get home from work and have more time to look things over, I'll post any additional concerns, but as everyone has indicated thus far, it semms like it should be a fairly straightforward install.

Cheers!

Luck on the install. was easy for me. I have 06, 5 spd too so if you have any specific questions i will be glad to help. One thing... I would wait till you get the tune to add the CAI at same time (hopefully your tuner has the C&L Info to set it up for that particular CAI before you get it.) . as the stock tune with a C & L will make car barely run, if at all, (waaay to lean) and throw codes all day long.

I'll echo that statement. Install the C&L, then load the new tune immediately afterwards beforestarting the car.

Roger that billybix76 & 28HopUp ~ though I really want to get the C&L on, I'm holding out for the tuner. I've gone back & forth between the Livewire, XCal2, & the Diablo. Wasn't even going to consider the Diablo, until someone told me it's the better way to go for a manual transmission, but I've found no hard evidence to support this. The Livewire, though pricey, seems like it has some nice features that would enable me to learn alot about the car and it's performance; however a call into Doug @ BAMA told me to hold off a bit on the Livewire as the initial batch released were a bit buggy. It appears they're back on his site for sale, so I imagine he's comfortable with their functionality now. I'll need to pull the trigger by next friday, so I'll keep torchering myself with this decision!

The there's the matter of which custom tunes to get.......argh!
