Default Engine Light On Again!!

Well as many of you know I had a problem with the tunes justin sent to fix the original tunes which would cause the engine light to come on when on the 93 octane tune and the 2-3 shift was a bit harsh for my dad, Anyway the tunes he sent me didnt work and made the car die so we had to reflash back to stock and put the stock intake back, well he said to comeby his house monday and he would fix everything. So yesterday we went and he loaded up the new tunes but the 2-3 shift was still rough, so we went back and he changed the shifts back to stock so the shifts are perfect but now the engine light just came back on? And its pulling the same code P0175 system to rich. What should I do? Ive emailed justin about it and hes not responding also how do I tell what tune is loaded in the vehicle right now? Cause when he loaded the tune im not sure if he loaded the 87 or 93 and its on we are running 93 octane gas right now. So I need to now that way I know if I have to use 93 or I dont. This whole experience has just been frustrating why couldnt it have gone a little smoother?[:@] Also when I pulled the code I didnt clear it cause I wasnt sure if its alright or not should I?[/align]

Justin,
you can clear the code if you want to. It will not have any effect on the vehicle whatsoever.

The code 'too rich' is coming from the 02 sensors. Interesting it didn't say which bank. Not enough oxygen in the exhaust system is caused by the fuel injection system spitting too much fuel into the engine at some point during operation. Or it is also possible although unlikely you have a faulty 02 sensor.

At any rate it sounds like your problem started after you installed the tune.

While you have your tuner connected to your pony, go ahead and re-install the original / factory tune.

Put it back to stock and drive it. Especially since you have the intake system back to stock.

Drive it as many miles as before when the check engine light came on and see if it does it again.

If it doesn't, this will verify your suspicion that it's the tune/.s causing the over-rich condition hence the check engine code.

Since you can't seem to get a solution to your problem via the current tuner, I'd suggest your going elsewhere. I've used b a m a c h i p s tunes ever since and have never had any problems of any kind.

Also it could be that your car is unique in some way where factoryparts / sensorsand settings are concerned. It may be causing an adverse reaction to alternative / performance tunes.

I hope this helps you and best of luck with your experimentation

Well right now it has the C&L intake on it, but it definetely is the tune thats causing this problem because it did the same thing last time and when we put the stock intake and loaded it back to stock it was fine again. But I think I was reading the codes and it said bank 2 if im not mistaken.

Okay, here's something you and your Dad can team up on in step by step fashion to troubleshoot and hopefully solve your problem.
First when you have a chk engine light, you pull the code/s like you have already.
Then google the code like "P0175 system too rich bank 2"

Here is the result I got doing just that.
http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_cod...gen-sensor.php

I figure it's easier than taking you step by step through the entire process which could eat up pages of posts and honestly I just don't have the time right now with all that's going on.
I think you can handle this yourself based on what work you have performed already.
It's really simple and it'sinteresting if not necessary to learn too.
Have a look at OBD-CODES.COM when ever you have any code issues.

I have a suspicion the custom tune isexasurbating the 'real' problem. I can't say for sure of course but the code your car is dropping isvery subtle in most cases as in unnoticeable drivability wise.
However, sometimesone symptom that can crop up will be an intermittent if not rare misfire.

If all else fails then the custom tune is obviouslycausing the engine to run too rich.
Solution to that is get the creator to correct it and if he doesn't then find someone else with a killer tune for your pony. You know who I recomend already . Probably isn't his fault though.

Let me know how it goes kiddo!
Best of luck and happy 'kickedmonarchy ***'pyro day!

Thanks man really appreciate it but this only comes up when the tune is installed if I put back the stock intake and tune it goes away? So it has to be the tune.

Just happened to pass by my PC and saw your response.
It COULD be an over sensitive 02 sensor, could be the MAF sensor, could be the air filter, could be a vacuum leak and so on.
You need to check these things.
It could be your installation of the CAI tube, filter etc. causing it too.
Good luck.
