Default UGH!!!!!

OK, I need an estimate to prepare me for the call from the dealer.

Last nigh I hit a brick, rock, something in the middle of the highway. Drove it to the dealer this AM and it was HOT. So hot that it shut down, and then let me start it back up after a few minutes of coasting. I know the radiator was leaking. Will they fix the leak if it's a leak or hole? If the motor shut off, did the CPU save the motor?

What will a radiator cost me?

If the car was leaking or overheating why didn't you have it towed? Overheating can cause damage to the heads/head gasket (amoung other components) and the trans if it's an auto.

I watched the thermo... It was getting hot, then cooled down, so I thought it was OK. Then after it cooled down, it was way hot in about 5 minutes.

this actually happened to me and i heard knock so i shut the mother down and called a tow truck. It will be quite expensive. They will likely have to replace your radiator if that's what it is. It could be a hose or something else though. I'd recomend going under there and taking pics. If you can get a pic of where it is leaking we can help you out alot more. It could end up being a hose or something which wouldn't be too expensive, but they might try to rip you off.

Well... Good news I guess so far. Radiator, fan, AC condenser.... $1660. They don't THINK the motor or tranny were hurt.

Wouldn't there be a trouble code now if I did hurt either?

They won't reflash it will they?

Anyone? Anyone?

Can I be confident that if the car didn't throw any codes, the motor and tranny should be OK?

$1600, no damage to the motor or tranny. Thank God! I'm gonna run her through the ringer tonight though.
