Default quick question

so i got the C&L CAI and tune from brenspeed, i'm currently running their 91 tune. i thought i would get better gas mileage, hopefully in the 22's. before getting everything, i got around 20 mpg. right now after everything, i'm only getting 17-18 mpg. i'm not sure if it is because i'm on it more or if i'm actually losing mileage. i don't get on it more now than i used....any reasons?

You are probablyusing more fuel because of the way brenspeed sets the throttle control. The stock tune is set so that WOT is achieved when the gas petal is floored. Brenspeed sets it so that WOT is about half way down to the floor. This just helps throttle responce and you can have brenspeed tune that out, or just learn how to drive the car a littledifferent with less gas. In other words you are gettin on the gas more, just not intentionally. Just my view on it.

actually i beleive we reach WOT at about 80% of the pedal travel. Your car has to get used to the new setup. Your ECU has to "learn" so to speak and so do you. Once you get used to it and all the kinks work themselves out you will probably see about the same mileage you saw before. Also keep in mind, if you have seen a big rise in temperature in your area you will lose some mileage/power because your engine becomes less efficient

Got an 87 mileage tune from VMPtuning and mileage went from 24 mpg highway to 29.1!Took 2 tanks of gas. First tank was 26.4 mpg. Justin makes a mileage tune in ANY octane you want.

bring some board shorts and tell the girls to dress slutty! we've had great weather. a little overcast in the mornings then it burns off and is sunny and hott the rest of the day. we get perfect nights too.

well, i'm a little bummed out now because of this. when i called the guys at brenspeed, they said i should get better mileage with the 91, enough to offset the cost...hasn't happened yet and i'm on my third tank. i'll give her two more tank fulls and watch my foot, if i don't see better mileage i'm going to call justin at VMP and get an 87 mileage tune and when i plan on having some fun i'll just switch to the 87 tune from brenspeed when i want to have some fun.

@8cd
would temperture rise effect gas mileage by about 3 mpg?? it's gotten warmer down here, but not that much.

I am running same set-up, Bspeed 91, C&L. I was seeing 25mpg all aound before and 26.5 after. (best highway was 31.9! with cruise set at 75 on a flat road cool day) I would keep after Brent, karen or Mike about the 91 tune. It should get you around 25mpg...

I also tried and ran with their 87 tune for a while and got less of a gain.

Other issues that may help .....

I talked to Brent and bumped my 0-2000 timing by +2 and that helped out mileage as well as take-off..

Your MRT aeroturbine, is designed for max airflow/purge of the exhaust manifolds for max HP at expense of backpressure that will effect mileage ...Did you get the tune with the aeroturbine figured in?

I swapped out transmission fluid, diff fluid and engine oil to Royal Purple and the whole thing runs slicker=less friction=more better everything

Slight difference in 2007, 2006 model vs 2005 model in specs/ ports and throttle body/ throttle position sensors may require an actual SCT dealer DYNO tune to max it out for your particular car/fuel/altitude combo..

i was using their 87 tune at first since that's what i had in the tank and my mileage before putting it in was at 19 MPG, after installing their 87 tune it jumped to about 23.5 after a trip. after my tank was like 1 mile to empty i put in there 91 tune and thats when their mileage has gone down. i did tell the guy i have the MRT aeroturbine so i'm assuming that they did adjust. tomorrow i'm going to refill with 91 and i have monday off so i'll give them a call and see whats up. what i want to know is how you got 25 MPG originally. i was lucky to get more than 22

Mostly Luck of the draw I guess. 05's vs 06's etc...One thing i did do when stock. My whole throttle body assembly was replaced on a TSB because is the position sensor and air valve were incompatible ( ford's explanantion) causing codes and limp mode..So I do have a TB from 07 series...dont know if that makes much diference.

Also driving habits matter....A LOT.. when do you usually shift? I try to shift at 2000-2350 rpm to save gas and be as smooth as possible (except when that cheesy ricer next to me tries to cut me off....)
