i have only had experience with a SCT x-calibrator 2. If you have an automatic, u want an x-cal 2 because you can adjust your own shift pressures, for manual it doesnt matter, they r the same, it is really all in the tune, the tuner just holds the info, its the tune that actually re calibrates your engine to give you the extra hp/tq. And yes x-cals hold 3 tunes plus you stock calibrations.

can't lose with either one. comes down to your own preference and which features about each device interests you the most.

Either a Diablosport Predator or an SCT XCal2, call your local performance shop and see which one they work with. The XCal2 is probably the more popular one, but the XCal2 and the Predator are the best programmers and are about equal in functionality.

I'm kinda in the same boat as 07lane40. I've been out of the loop on tweaking these new motors. Ineed to find out more on which is the easiest way to modestly increase performance without just throwing bags of money under the hood. A new chip seems like the most optimal mod to start with but, which one and why? I'm hoping this is one of the reasons for this forum to helpget info from other Mustang owners without any sales pitches.

i dont think anyone is trying to throw sales pitches around. CAI+Tuner programmers ARE the best first performance mods you can make (exhaust also of course). if you're not looking for outrageous power then this combo may be all you ever need to do to your stang. i think people always recommend them because they save you money in the long run instead of buying a few mods here then a few mods there to get to the same point with just a CAI/tuner the first time. however, its your money, your choice.

Ok Let's start with the basics. How do these tuners work when they say they come with up to 3 tunes? Where's a good website to bring me up to speed on these? I'm still old school from when I bought a new 2.3L 74 Mustang II re-jetted the progressive two barrel, added headers, colder plugs and dialed in the timing to break into 14's. Ooops, grampa's showing his age!

Call VMPtuning at 321 206-9369,ask for Justin. He can answer all your questions. He also has a 4.0 Power package that is great! Made my Mustang run like it should. From one old school to another this is the way to go.
