Default Question regarding tunes...

hey guys,

i'm trading in on an alloy pony (i physically get the car on the seventeenth of this month). immediately after, i plan on purchasing the cai/tune combo. i know i'm going to go with c&l intake and xcal2, but when it comes to which company to purchase tunes from, i'm clueless. any ideas on who puts out the best tunes that bring out the most in the car? and how much do the tunes themselves run?

also, on a side note, this time before tinting i am going to put down the felt along the windows. any ideas on where to purchase this and how to install it? thanks.

VMP is what I use, VMPTuning.com is the site. Justin's tunes are pushed to the max and you get the best bang for your buck. With the 87 performance tune my car is a beast now.

Brenspeed, BammaChipps, VMP Tuning........these seem to be the most popular here and seem to get a lot of customer satisfaction from the forum members. I'm sure there are a few more good ones other than these so do a little research on their web sites to see which you prefer. good thing is that you can't seem to go wrong with whomever you choose.

a friend raised an interesting point. many have mentioned that you can get around the warranty issue by re-flashing your car back to stock before taking it in to the dealership. well what if something happens to your car that prevents it from even starting.......are you just screwed? just trying to avoid warranty issues here!

just went to vmptuning.com and noticed a fairly large price difference between the vmp intake and the c&l. what is the difference, besides the sex appeal (looks)?

you got it. from justin's numbers, his simple intake puts out the same numbers as the C&L full kit. seems like as long as you remove the factory airbox, install a quality performance cone filter and replace the MAF housing with a larger diameter housing, you are very good to go. not much else will give you anymore air intake than this set-up. i myself love the look of the C&L pipe so i will be purchasing the whole kit. its not cost effective but when you get into the modding world, most purchases are not very cost effective anyways. damn that mod bug! I haven't paid yet, but I am going with Bama, they have 89, 92 and 93 octane tune that comes with the package. Recommend you look at their JTL cold air package w/tuner. Damn good price.

I have bamma tunes and love them. A lot of other people on here run doug's tunes, as well as tunes from brenspeed, lidio at AA, and justin at VMP.

As far as the felt for your tint is concerned, try googling moleskin...
