New Personal Best ET
My standing personal best had been 14.701 @ 95.7mph, But Iwent toCecil County last night and beat it. I got there with 9 miles to E, and had 5 gallons of Torco 104 unleaded put in the tank. Out with the SCT to change over to Evolution's race tune. I remembered to reset the gears and tire revs when loading the new tune. Then I left the track for a 10 minute "learning session" for the ECU. Returned to the track and aired up the fronts to 48psi, and dropped the drag radials to 22psi. Then I parked the car for an hour with the hood up. Went and watched the racing and talked to other drivers in the staging lanes.
First Pass
Drove around the water box and backed in for a quick spin. Quite frankly, I haven't mastered the warm up burnout. Popping the clutch and jumping on the brake with my left foot is not a natural motion for me - at least not enough to do a proper burnout. Still, I warmed them up OK imo. At the line, I was matched up to a Mini Cooper S. I revved to 3K, and did a quick lift on the clutch with the following results:
60' - 1.999
1/8 - 9.452 @ 73.97mph
1/4 - 14.757 @ 93.2mph
Not a personal best, but it was my first 60' that was sub-2.00. My 2-3 shift was botched too. I should also say that the track was slick and the temp was in the upper 80's. I parked the car for another hour, and ran into some guys I know.
Second (Final) Pass
Same lane. Drove around the water box and backed in for a quick spin.I warmed them up OK. At the line, I was match up to a ratty Honda Civic. I again revved to 3K, and did a quick lift on the clutch (with more wheelspin than I'm used to with DR's), and got the following results:
60' - 2.068
1/8 - 9.399 @ 74.71mph
1/4 - 14.653 @ 94.14mph
I'll take a personal best any day of the week!I was hoping to do a bit better, butgiven the heat and lack of track prep, it was a great night as far as I'm concerned. I'll post up the better time slip later today.

RE: New Personal Best ET
Excellent work!
Anytime a new best is attained is a good day.
Sounds like you have some more ET that you can chew down as well. I think you have the M&H's, so you really need to get those heated up, not just a quick burnout. I would do as Todd said and lower the psi on them a little, heat them up good and then see what kind of launch you get.

Thanks guys! Here's a link to my timeslip -
14.653 SLIP (in IE, you can maximize it by clicking in the lower right corner)
I had a great time racing AND talking to other drivers/folks in the staging lanes. There was a GO '07 GT there who ran a 14.7 the first time, and with the smell of his clutch lingering he brought it up to a 14.4. I saw a Viper run a few times, ranging from 12.2 to 16.x where he couldn't shift (same guy Tino!). There was a red GT500 who was hot-lapping it several times - he was disappointed with several 12.2xx. I suggested that he let the thing cool off, but he wanted practice time in the seat. John Lund was there with his GT500, and he was in the 11's. Fred from Evolution had his GT there, but he smoked the launch the only run I witnessed.
I find it amazing at what different cars will run in the 1/4 mile (good and bad). I watched several V8 Foxes and New Edges running 15's that looked like they came from a show, and yet other similar cars that looked beat running 12's and 13's. The Civic that beat me looked like a piece of doo-doo, but he pulled harder than I did at the end (but at least I smoked the Mini Cooper). There was a sleeper 4-door Pontiac Grand Prix that ran consistent 14.2's (never got to talk to him). A supercharged Saleen ran 12.2's, but he was looking for 11's once the night cooled off (it was still hot at 9pm when I left). But I also talked with import guys, guys with bikes, and spectators who really enjoyed hitting the track. It's not like dealing with the nimrods on the street. All were impressed with my little 6 cylinder running mid-14's. It was VERY therapeutic for me to race last night.
