Problem!
I have an 06 pony package, 27k miles.. and when the car is in neutral at a stoplight the clutch/transmission is making a semi loud grinding noise that sounds like tap tap tap tap tap. When I push the clutch in, it goes away. The car is still under warranty but when I called the Ford dealer yesterday they said it would be a week before they could even look at it! I can't just drop my car like that for a week - I need a way to get around. Do you guys know if this is a serious problem and has anyone else encountered it?
Is the noise you are talking about pretty minor? I have the same thing in my PP, been that way since it was new. Ford says that the hydraulic throwout bearing makes this noise and that you could expet to hear this. Unless you can actually feel a grind I wouldnt worry too much. If you do a forum search there was a thread about this a while back, alot of ppl have this noise.
Mine doesn't sound like a grinding noise but I definitely hear the tic tic tic tic tic when in neutral at stoplights. It's also been there since I bought it. I just turn up the music....no more noise!
I don't feel any grinding when I press the clutch in. The weird thing about the noise is sometimes it's louder than other times. Last night while driving it, it was really loud at one stoplight. This morning not so bad. Is there a TSB on this? Does it only affect pony package? When I had my 05 premium, I didn't have that noise at all.
Just out of curiousity, does it make a spaced tap tap or does it sound like a rattle/vibration? I have my car in the shop right now because I have a rattle/vibration coming from the dashboard. Driving me nuts!
