Need help with first mods..
Hey guys I wanna just add little mods to my car. It's a 2007 Mustang v6. Mostly performance but can't spend too much $$. I'm pretty new to this so sorry if I ask noob questions. I have been looking around this forum for about 2 months now. My car almost has 3000 miles on it. Is it safe to start modding? My goal is to make my car faster and my budget will probably be around $1000. I have been reading that a takeoff GT muffler will help some power gains. Can the muffler by itself just be added without anything else? Can a total noob install it himself? Would it void warranty? I was planning to first go withthe GT takeoffmuffler, than tints, and about 6 months later, a CAI and tune. Is this is a good idea? Thanks.
muffler is mostly for sound but i have heard of some people mentions some slight speed gain but none in my experience.
CIA and tuner is always a +1 for your first (engine) mod
oh and welcome to the forums

if at all possible, try to get the GT takeoff mufflers from a manual GT as they get a better sound. I plan on tinting myself and I wouldn't worry about it voiding your warranty a bit. It basically fits into two of the three brackets that are on your car and bolts into the end of the exhaust althought actually doing it can be a BIT tricky. I gave a guy that works on cars $20 to do it cause I didn't want to mess it up (I would've found a way). There are things around for instructions but I say go for it. As far as performance, it sounds and feels better but I doubt a dyno would show it at all. Still the best upgrade, Ford does research on muffler designs for a reason. CAI+tuners are great because it adds HP AND improves throttle response for faster launches, so you're on the right track. You may want to also consider putting that second GT muffler to use with true duals. Read around if you want to know anything about them.
Thanks. =)
According to VMP Tuning, the muffler swap adds a bit of rear wheel horsepower. (http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...&parent=10) So this is not true?

I will get a CAI/tune for sure but not until after a few months. I wanna start off with the muffler. Is that a decent price for the muffler in the vmptuning site? Or should I get it somewhere else? I'm guessing not at the dealership..
I got my GT takeoffs at:

I haven't looked around, but I'd say its a pretty decent price.

I bet if I made a sound clip of my Corsas and told people that the sound was dual MRTs everybody would say that it sounds terrible, and if I posted the exact same clip and said they were Corsas people would say that it sounded sweet...
